Mahindra Power train warranty

/ Mahindra Power train warranty #31
I've owned more than twelve cars/trucks in my lifetime and a number of smaller pieces of equipment lawn tractors , lawn mowers, string trimmers etc. not that common but anytime I had a seal failure during the warranty period it was fixed for free. Nissan replaced rear axle seal on the truck at about 90k miles.

Any equipment expected to be in an off road environment extensively will not have external seals covered under warranty past their bumper to bumper. A warranty covers DEFECTS in MATERIAL or WORKMANSHIP. Any part of a tractor, backhoe, bulldozer etc etc that is exposed to the elements of their working environment will not be covered after the all aggregate warranty is up. A car or truck seal is not normally exposed to tall grass, twine, submerged in mud and gravel etc, and if the dealer found evidence of damage from foreign debris on you truck axle seal the mfg would deny the warranty(although the dealer may cover it themselves). Power Train Warranties cover Internal parts bathed in oil that are protected from outside impact, debris, and the elements.

I spoke to my dealer when buying my 2538 and asked questions about what was covered and what wasn't. These seals are not covered for exactly the reasons e5wd6114 states. I'm assuming my dealer has faced this before because he was very particular and extremely clear on what they can fix under warranty repairs. So, I'm prepared to fix external seals on my own. I'm far enough away from the dealer that transportation by them would cost almost $160 round trip but I bought a hauler with the tractor to avoid that expense. The trailer will be necessary for a host of other reasons. For this reason, I intend to stock up on a set of external gaskets and seals as well as any other consumables. I'd rather be ready than waiting on them to order parts. ;)

Update, Got to say that I'm really impressed with the response and level of service from my dealer and Mahindra. They picked the tractor up yesterday morning, looked at it and determined it was covered under the powertrain warranty and had it back to me by 4:00 pm the same day ! Awesome.

Well, almost made it through the first 19 hours before it broke. Wife was pawing away with the backhoe clearing around a stump so we could pull it when the hydraulic oil started leaking. It appears to be a blown seal in the distribution block servicing the rear lines. They cannot even look at it until next week then they will need to order something I imagine... so there's another 1-4 weeks...

I cannot get to or see the back side of the part the fluid is leaking from without removing the right rear wheel. Because I don't have any power or barn/pad to work with/on at the property yet, I cannot work on the tractor. However it appears to be the seal under the plate on that box. I'm hoping it is a seal, an o-ring or something they have in stock and can easily fix.

I don't understand why it failed though when using the backhoe as it was intended. Seems like a poor fitment if it cannot handle the pressure.

Well! You all are wicked smahhhht! I just got a call and the tractor is ready. It was just an o-ring. I'm going to get a few extra ones just in case another one lets go. The tractor is ready!
