Has anyone considered Mahindra Roxor for a farm Side By side? I would really like any feedback from any members that have considered or has one. I'm interested in purchasing one, but would certainly appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much!!

Cheers!!

Do a search, there are a few threads on them. Don't recall anyone here who has bought one however. They are not as utility-minded as a good UTV (no dump bed, limited cargo capability). More like a small jeep.

They are basically a older Jeep version. Most accessories from a CJ-5 on down will fit them. Except engine parts as they are a turbo diesel. The only advantage a side by side has is a dump bed on some and they can go faster over rough ground. Other than that the Roxor's are superior IMHO. No belt drive, a steel frame, 2 speed transfer case and thicker steel by far than what is in the new trucks & cars. The interior is Rhino lined so cleaning it up is a breeze. They are a different division of Mahindra than the tractor group. Mahindra started making Jeeps in 1947 and evidently still had the rights to make them. The precision Ag outfit I work a couple days a week sells them. I was all prepared to dismiss them until ours arrived. I had to reevaluate my opinion of them after playing around a bit with them. They are assembled in Michigan and already there are chips, tunes etc. for the engine. Supposedly they are coming out with a half cab. That's about all I know of them. If you have any more questions PM me and I'll get you a straight answer.

I looked at one and spoke in length to a salesman for the outfit that among other Ag lines is a Mahindra dealer.
Roxor is a Mahindra Jeep with a nice Turbo diesel or gas engine. Lots of accessories for the cab and front bumper. Comes in Military green or sand as well as couple other color options. Priced reasonable compared to any big tricked out UTV. I recall base unit starts at 12K without windshield or top. One I looked at had HVAC, winch bumper, light kit and canvas door / top was 20K.
On the other hand, IMHO, it is not street legal or meets any emission standards. If it is illegal to drive a UTV on roads where you are, then Roxor is not permitted.
With enough land to ride on, large ranch or farm, it would work well. Around small acreage or hunting camps would be over kill.
I Like It!!

I looked seriously at one earlier this year. Pricing is similar to a larger side by side ($15-18,000). The turbo diesel they use is seriously de-rated. An ECU flash can open up the top speed and add a lot more power. The Roxor is a stripped down version of the Mahindra THOR, which evolved from the CJ3 that Mahindra license-built for many years. The axles are DANA copies so CJ parts will drop right in. The Roxor is VERY basic, which means there is little to break on it. What it does have is also very solid and seems well built. The Roxor is no plastic wonder so it should stand up to sun bleaching and being out in the weather with few complaints.

The thing that held me back was that I wanted something I could license for street use (we can do that in Tennessee if it has certain equipment added). By the time you upgrade the Roxor it gets very close to lightly used Wrangler in price. In the end I decided that a side by side was a better fit for what we wanted. The Roxor is a nice machine though.

Mahindra is adding locking differentials and will offer a dump bed version very soon - That will fix the 2 shortcomings it has.
It also can tow 3000 lbs- something none of the SxS can do.

It's also very heavy as far as the scale of UTV's go.

It's a Jeep for all practical purposes.

If a Jeep CJ5-7 works for your applications, the Roxor would be fine.

I have to have a lighter UTV to traverse sandy, wet soil that a heavier vehicle would bog down and sink to the axles in.

Did go put hands on a Roxor at the local dealer, and it's a neat vehicle. Mahindra has been making them for many decades. They just haven't sold them here.

I'd love to have one, but can't justify the cost. The automatic starts at $20,000.

Roxor A/T

Ya you can buy an nice used Jeep and drive it on the road for less than what a Roxor costs.

Besides that, when Fiat Chrysler gets done with Mahindra and their trade dress lawsuit, I suspect the Roxor will be no more in this country. Then what do you do for parts when it breaks?

FCA has sued the pants off Mahindra.

We had a military surplus jeep when I was young. It was pretty good as a utility vehicle (it would go places the long bed trucks would not) when building fence in the woods, putting out mineral blocks, etc.. So 40 years later when we bought our present place I bought a good used Cub Cadet Volunteer because my truck would get stuck if a bird peed on the ground and the ATV just could not carry much. My wife was aggravated because she thought I bought a toy, but now it gets twice the hours put on it than the tractor does. Right now it has a 275 gallon water tank in the back for watering trees and a 25 gallon tank on the front for insecticide or spray for mesquite. We use the dump bed for hauling mulch and compost, have not been able to get it stuck yet, and when the alternator belt broke I thought my wife was going to start crying. From my experience a good "utility" (not a go fast style) UTV is a lot more useful than a jeep.

Mahindra has had a license to build Jeeps much, much longer than Fiat Chrysler has.

The Roxor is marketed as a UTV. Not even remotely what FCA is marketing with their Jeep.

Guess we'll see who spends the most on lawyers.

Wrong. Willy's Overland licensed Mahindra to build Jeeps during WW2. When Fiat acquired Diamler Chrysler it also acquired Jeep and the trademark. Will's only licensed Mahindra to build military jeeps for war time, not peace tine. The Roxor is an illegal copy of the war time Jeep that Willys Overland originally licensed.

You need to get your facts correct. FCA sued Mahindra for trade dress infringement as well as copy right and trademark infringement just like Kubota did Kioti. Kubota won and settled out of court for an undisclosed sum. I suspect the same will hold for FCA as well.

Mahindra imports the Roxor into this country in pieces and assembles them in Farmington, Michigan at a plant they own.

I believe Fiat has deeper pockets attorney wise that Mahindra does bit again, we shall see. Until then however, get your facts straight.

Your facts and my facts just seem to be a bit different. That may be so. But I'd thank you not to tell me to get my facts straight when yours seem to be a bit askew....

I don't usually go in for a whizzing contest, but your rudeness, ignorance, and attitude makes this a challenge I'll accept.

It wasn't "Will's only licensed Mahindra to build military jeeps for war time" as you put it... Mahindra has been licensed since 1947. (Which war was in 1947?)

The question isn't really quite as simple as that, of course. Really, the Roxor isn't exactly a Jeep, it's a (admittedly heavily modified) Mahindra Thar, which is, yes, a license-built Jeep. And that's pretty much exactly why Mahindra can build the iconic Jeep without worry, because had a license to do so since 1947.[/B]

Mahindra was one of the earliest- 1947, remember Jeep licensee, and has had agreements with every one of the many companies that have been stewards of the Jeep brand over history: Willys, Kaiser, American Motors, Renault, Chrysler, Daimler, the Cerberus group, and now Fiat. That's insane.

It also means that technically, Mahindra has had the rights to the Jeep design for decades longer than the current owner, Fiat Chrysler, has.

The point of all this is to say, yes, Mahindra can **** well build a Jeep if they want to.

Now, it's notable that the Roxor does not have Jeep's jealously-guarded trademark seven-slot grille, even though the Thar in India and other markets uses it. That grille has become so iconic and associated with Jeep that it is now Jeep's logo, even if, technically, that was a Ford design.

"Illegal Copy"? LOL...

Here's some more schooling for ya...

International licenses and derivatives

The CJ-3B design was also licensed to a number of international manufacturers, which produced a civilian and military variants long after 1968, including Mitsubishi of Japan and Mahindra of India. Mitsubishi's version was built from 1953 until 1998, while Mahindra continued to produce vehicles based on the Willys CJ-3B until October 1, 2010. The CJ-3B was also built by T?k Willys Overland. It was the first vehicle plant to be opened in Turkey, in 1954.[29] Mahindra's "Mahindra CJ" produced in two versions: four-seater CJ 340 and six-seater CJ 540. Both were equipped with Peugeot-sourced 64 hp (48 kW; 65 PS) engines.

Mahindra also has a Design Agreement contract with Fiat that was signed by both parties in 2009.

Trademark dispute

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, owner of the Jeep brand, filed a complaint in August 2018 with the U.S. International Trade Commission to halt sales in the US, saying the design infringed FCA's copyrights. Mahindra & Mahindra and its Mahindra Automotive North America division filed a public-interest statement with the trade commission on August 22, 2018 asserting that the recent complaint filed by FCA U.S. is without merit, and has begun proceedings in a Michigan court to enforce a design agreement that it claims to have executed with Fiat in 2009.

It may also add to your argument when challenging someone with incorrect "facts" if you would at least pay the slightest attention to your spelling and punctuation...

Just buy a real used Jeep and end it all. A lower cost, better vehicle in every way and no issues with parts or what will happen 5-10 years from now. Looked at the Roxor when it came out. No dump bed, no rear carrying capacity, no top....pretty useless toy.

18 months ago, I sold both my UTV's and got a used 2010 Jeep for $16500. Hardtop, heat, A/C, can go off road, or to the grocery store, or take a 500 miles trip if I need to.

Newer Wranglers are a rust and electrical nightmare.
Just finally got rid of one I bought 5 years ago, no thank you for any more!
