Comparison Mahindra vs Kioti

   / Mahindra vs Kioti #21
not sure what part of Oz you are in. I have a little CK 30 Daedong (Kioti) I have 40 acres mainly bush. It has a FEL and a Post hole digger and finally today I got my new Flail mower (woo hoo)
The only time I wanted a larger tractor is when I am pushing stumps and I have decided it is best to leave them alone or just saw them off with a chainsaw down low. My little tractor does everything else I need and it is economical. That is important to me as a pensioner.
If you have hills just be darn careful. There is no stability from the front end of a tractor as the axle pivots. The rear is what makes the tractor stable and this is why so many tip over. So what do you want your tractor for?
My needs are Mowing, front end loader for rocks and soil and gravel and a post hole digger. Do you need a monster for that? I get by fine and love my little Panther.

Certainly not apples to apples.

It seems you have some different models in AU than we have and the kioti AU site sucks for specs.

That mahindra is VERY heavy for a 40HP machine. It is physically twice the size of the kioti in weight and most lift specs. To compare apples to apples you need to compare to a heavier kioti, or compare the kioti to a lighter manindra. (or something in between).

the CK is a ~2600lb machine, the mahindra is a 5000lb machine. There are a TON of models that range anywhere in between....3500-4500lbs.
A DK or NX in the 40-45 HP range is the closest kioti has to the mahindra, but still 1000lbs lighter.

Mahindra does offer some ~40ish hp tractors that are lighter too. Looks like the 4010 is avaliable in AU, and is a much closer match to the kioti

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. I know my reaction when I got on the Mahindra was that it felt like a real tractor. The compact Kioti did feel a little small. But the Kioti does seem to be better finished - for what that's worth. I did get a chance to speak to mechanics at both dealers - away from the dealerships. Both swore by their machines and said they hadn't had seen any real issues with either. One thing I am interested in though is people's opinions on what is better on the hills. My place gets pretty hilly, and while I shouldn't admit it, I have got in the odd sticky situation. We get a lot of rain so the ground can get soggy. Wondering if the extra weight of the Mahindra will be a benefit or an issue. I think its nearly double the weight of the 40hp Kioti. Mark
Assuming both tractors are an honest 40 hp the Kioti will do better on hills. That is simple physics that a tractor that weighs twice as much will be slower going up the hill. The Mahindra will do fine on hills, but you will have to use a lower gear. This as about the most apples to oranges comparison you could get. That Kioti is about the lightest 40 hp tractor you can find. At 5,000 pounds that Mahindra is a BEAST. That is the heaviest 40 hp tractor I have ever seen.

Overall width is king on hills.

Weight is an issue.

I've got my heavily weighted max 28 really stuck, My L39 saving grace is the BH can easily pick it up, and I've been just lucky with the excavator.

Harbor freight sells a fairly good $300 12,000 Lb. electric winch that could work for you and adds a bit more front end weight or you could set it up so that you could mount to front and the 3 Pt as needed.

I wouldn't not buy a bigger tractor just because of fear of getting it stuck.

The lowest center of gravity is a very close second (if not an outright tie).
The lowest center of gravity will be the winner. Wider wheels usually provide a lower COG. People always say a ZTR lawnmower sucks on hills. A ZTR does suck on hills because it slides down, but they would be very hard to actually turn over. They have wide wheels and all the weight is low.
