Comparison Mahindra vs Kioti

The lowest center of gravity will be the winner. Wider wheels usually provide a lower COG. People always say a ZTR lawnmower sucks on hills. A ZTR does suck on hills because it slides down, but they would be very hard to actually turn over. They have wide wheels and all the weight is low.

IMO, the only thing that beats a ZTR on hills is a machine MADE for side hilling. I would rather mow hills with a ZTR than any type of garden tractor, SCUT or CUT. I have my wheels as wide as they will go on my kubota, and then still added 1.5" of spacers on each side. The ZTR is more stable around my pond bank in which the steepest areas approach 30 degrees

A ZTR is certainly more stable. I don't think you could flip one unless you go over retaining wall or something. They just don't stay on the hills. If you had locking casters on the front they would work better.

Different rear tires do wonders. I have at101's. Far better than turfs

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. I know my reaction when I got on the Mahindra was that it felt like a real tractor. The compact Kioti did feel a little small. But the Kioti does seem to be better finished - for what that's worth. I did get a chance to speak to mechanics at both dealers - away from the dealerships. Both swore by their machines and said they hadn't had seen any real issues with either.

One thing I am interested in though is people's opinions on what is better on the hills. My place gets pretty hilly, and while I shouldn't admit it, I have got in the odd sticky situation. We get a lot of rain so the ground can get soggy. Wondering if the extra weight of the Mahindra will be a benefit or an issue. I think its nearly double the weight of the 40hp Kioti.

Knowing that you get a lot of rain and the ground gets soggy makes the decision in my mind. There is a HUGE difference between a heavy tractor on soggy ground and a lighter one. In fact, depending on what you are going to do with the tractor you may want to go small than the Kioti. I have a small 1500lb tractor and I can do anything on my 5 acres that I want.

Bigger is sometimes better; not always. If you have a 5,000lb tractor in your barn, you will find real quickly that you have to be very careful about how soft your yard is before bringing it out. I sunk some fence posts last week with my front loader in some pretty soft ground and it barely cut in a rut. Try doing that with that big Mahindra. But then again.. it is all about what you plan on doing with the tractor. List that out first and then decide how big to go. Mahindra or Kioti either are very good tractors.

Appreciate everyone's thoughts. I think I'll go and have a drive of each one again. I do like the size of the Mahindra and it looks pretty bullet proof - but at 5,000llbs it is a very heavy tractor. Will post when I've bought the new tractor.

Thanks

If you can get aholt of a 4025 I would jump all over it. Great tractor! They ran out fast here

Very dependable tractor and longevity will be a big point with that model.
