Do not buy a Mahindra if you live in Montana! There is no customer service! I bought mine new in Billings and can not get parts or service, a near by dealer and "good warranty" were selling points for me, but what good is the warranty if no one will work on it? If you buy, go to a local dealer you trust, Mahindra will not stand behind their products , I even called customer support in Texas and got no help, just like a used car dealer once you are out the door they don't know who you are!

Welcome to TBN and the forum. What are the reasons that the Mahindra dealer in Billings will not work on your new tractor or has no parts??

the local dealer is a used car dealer, I went down to get parts and could not get any service, so I went to Napa got parts and did my own service, now I need some warranty work, the front end loader doesnt work properly and is dangerous...it takes off by its, self doesnt stop when you do etc. I can not get them on the phone, the other dealer is a snowmobile dealer in Libby ,Mt. a long ways away and I dont know if a sled machanic is any better , the only other dealer is owned by the same guy in Billings and I cant get him on the phone either. So I called Mahindra support and they offered condolences and nothing else. So Mahindra lies about their warranty and customer support at least in Montana

One of the reasons when purchasing a new tractor, to have a local dealer that does have parts and service. I would still think that you could find a dealer that would work on your tractor, just may not be very close. My son purchased from a local mahindra dealer and soon found out they did not stock any parts. He found another dealer 60 miles away that does stock parts and does service. I am not sure how he would feel about doing warranty work on a tractor he did not sell.

They are obligated to do the warranty work, they are just not obligated to put you near the front of the line if there are other customers who purchased from them and need service work done.

Perhaps if the OP had done research on here first they would have known what to look for in a dealership. Also suspect is a new account showing up and the first post is bashing a dealer and brand. My first thought is to question the motives of the OP.

It almost like this thread was scripted. One of the MAJOR points on tractor purchase - how are they set up for repairs and service. Go talk to the service manager - have him show you his shop - ask him about service and repair schedules. Get a feeling for the service operation - you just might need it after purchase.

Do this BEFORE you commit to a purchase.

I thought I had done my homework, they claimed more power,no diesel particulate filter, more lifting power, longer warranty,a slightly lower price, #1 selling tractor in the world, stronger axles, and as everything in Montana is a long way away 58 miles to the dealer didn't seem bad, I talked with the head mechanic at the time who said "they just dont come back for anything" this dealer owns 2 dealerships and the other one 200 miles away is a snowmobile dealership so I'm skeptical. I will take it out of state or Canada? if there is a Mahindra dealer that will work on one!

I would like to have a Mahindra, and the other dealers also, tell us that they must work on a tractor they did not sell under warranty. I know that John Deere is required by contract. I also know that with some other consumer products(not tractors) dealers are not required to do warranty work on items not sold by them. I read a lot of threads that said that some dealers did and some did not.

Would you buy a car made in India? Um, no. There is your answer

not sure this will help but the ford dealership in Townsend also sells Mahindra. Maybe give them a call? at least they have a service department and might be able to get you what you need

You could try ordering parts over the internet. I live near San Antonio, TX and I know Bill's Tractors is a very well respected Mahindra dealer in our area and has internet sales. You might also call your local district attorney about the dealership failing to live up to their commitments. He might not be able to do anything but it seems ridiculous that your dealer won't honor your warranty and even more ridiculous that Mahindra seems to not care. My question is maybe he is incapable of fixing it which may be more frustrating in the long run. My guess is that you could go to a tractor mechanic and have them fix it right. You shouldn't have to but in the long run might be the cheapest route.

So why is it that car dealers will work on a car even if you didn't buy it from them...even another makers car, yet tractor and RV dealers feel that it's okay to refuse someone service because they didn't buy the product from THAT dealer? I really don't get it. If you buy a Ford, any Ford dealer will happily service your car. If you buy a Jayco travel trailer, only the selling dealer will service your trailer...you take it to another Jayco dealer and they turn you away??

I used to take my Ram pickup to the Subaru dealer, the Honda dealer, Chrysler, and Ford dealer and they all were happy to work on it and did a good job to boot.

We have a local dealer with several stores who sells New Holland, Claas, and Mahindra all under one roof and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a tractor from them. Albeit I find the used car dealer and the snow machine dealer that also sells tractors would certainly turn me away from that particular brand just based on the fact that it's not their core business.

You are right and this is where I made my mistake I should have bought from a TRACTOR or AG business. But the only dealer near by, and after I got him down to his best price I got on the internet and found a better price over in Spokane, He couldnt match the price but added some implements and we made the deal, and I did go in and talk to the head mechanic at the time and asked what are the most common problems that you see? he said "we never see them come in for anything"I've gone in twice about 60 miles and called several times , I get put on hold and then hung up on, whats weird is before the deal I got the man on the phone every time, he even came in on a Sunday and opened up and let me play with it before purchase !

Don't know if you know this, but the Ford dealer in Townsend went belly up, so that might help explain the problem, I've heard from local people, I live in Townsend, that he was pretty shady.
Hope you find a dealer to help out

Does not surprise me, he was the very stereotypical "shady used car salesman" I have a complaint in with the BBB but going titsup wont help with any complaint.

Sad to hear, and sorry for your troubles. I looked at a local dealer that sold LS, TYM, Kioti....and a few cars on the lot. I was afraid to purchase from them because I didn't get the feeling they were experts on any of the brands...and that is the only one I want working on my machines. If they sell and repair cars...no go for me.

That said, have your tried talking to the owner of the dealerships to work something out?
