Do the TYM built Mahindras have a TYM logo or decal on them?

The reason I ask is that I am not familiar with TYM and when the Mahindra dealer first opened up here in Fredonia (he is now more or less out of business:rolleyes: ) everyone started buying Mahindra's. I thought my one neighbor down the road bought one also as all of the sudden he had a maroon tractor that looked like the Mahindra's. When I saw it go by on the road one day I saw TYM on the decal. I don't even know where there is a TYM decal so I figured I would ask.

Robert,
Don bought a building in Westfield, and is operating there. He is no longer a Mahindra dealer, but he is a TYM dealer and has new tractors on his lot. I don't know much about the new Mahindra dealer in that area, but it is Gugino's.

I know where he moved to and I have not been that way in a couple months but before when I was going that way he never had any new tractors. Hopefully he has got things turned around as my one friend who bought a Mahindra from him said he was a great guy. He just kept moving his dealership around so much it doesn't make you feel confident he will be around if you need him in the future. I do wish him well though as the more competition the better the prices are on equipment.

Gugino has a Mahindra tractor with loader parked down in Fredonia advertising that they are a Mahindra dealer. Angola (where Gugino is located) is a half hour from Fredonia roughly. The people who bought Mahindra tractors there (Don's store was 4 miles down the road from where Gugino's tractor is parked) are probably upset they have to drive an extra half hour now but it could be worse.

So was Don always a TYM dealer and do the TYM tractors resemble the Mahindras that closely as I couldn't tell the difference until I seen the decal but then again I am not very familiar with either brands tractors to be able to notice the different styling clues.

Yes it's my understanding that the new tractor will be a different engine. My comparison is that the 7520 and 7010 share the same engine. The other TYM based/built units have a Deere engine. It's also my understanding that my 6000 has this engine just a different compression and minus the turbo.
I wonder if that 6030 you saw is one that's currently available?
Jwcinpk,
The 7010 and the 7520 may share the same basic block and head as the cubic inch displacement is the same. But something in the installation gives them different model numbers and horsepower.
Now that Galen mentions the 6530, I think this is the model I saw in Tomball. As I was told it was new. I am not sure now, as I slept since then and I just got home from my daughter's college graduation and I am tuckered out.

Robert,
I have a smaller '03 2810 built by TYM for Mahindra. It has the TYM logo on the rubber floor mat. Also on the build tag on the frame rail.
I think they are building a couple models for Montana Tractors.

I was always under the impression the engines were the same. You see one listed as a turbocharged engine and one not, but I'm almost positive they are both turbo. I don't know if it's true or just dealer sales pitch, but one dealer I spoke to said that the engines are the same, specs are the same, just listed differently. His rational was that TYM did not want a higher pto hp T700 based tractor out there so they had Mahindra list the pto hp the same as the TYM and Montana Deere engined tractors. May be absolute hog wash.
Congrats on the daughter graduating from college! I'm sure you're proud and rightly so!

Jwcinpk,
I am thinking the 7010 is turbocharged also. My 6520 has 215.5 cu inch and a 19.4 to 1 compression ratio and doesn't have a turbo. That tells me the 7520 and the 7010, both with less cubic inches, have to be turbocharged to make more horsepower than the 6520's engine. The difference in HP on the 7010 and the 7520 could be different turbos are used, or something different in the fuel delivery system, or a different exhaust.......or two different engineers with two different test procedures from two different companies that ran the dynamometer tests. Or it could be all of the above.
Now thank about this...........the engine out of my 6520 coming out with a turbo and stuck in a cab tractor putting out 82 horsepower. Sounds like the new Mahindra model to me.;) :D :)
hugs, Brandi

I have a service manual for the 20 series. The 6520 and 7520 engines are substantially identical except for the stroke. A shorter throw crank is used, different same diameter pistons, and perhaps different length rods. The 0.280" shorter stroke on the 7520 gives lower displacement and, combined with the different pistons, a lower compression ratio. Like you say, the turbo cranks the 7520 HP up in spite of it.

Im just concerned that if the engine on the cab model is the same, where are they getting the drive power for the AC compressor and the bigger alternator that will be needed? I wouldnt want to see that cam gear take the extra load above what it must transmit on the 7520 with the big Hyd pump. Theres very little room to beef things up without redesign. Maybe they will go to a straight cut gear to prevent the thrust forces. Would be good to know......

Spyderlk,
You might have a point there. However, being a mechanic and hearing about your past problem, I think your gear might have been dropped at some point before installation or stressed in some way during manufacturing. It could even been put in a bind upon assembly. It has happened before and will happen again to someone, somewhere. If it was a design flaw, I feel at least every other 6520 and 7520 owner would be hollering about

There have been failures on the 7520s. The 6520 would not cause as much stress since it has the smaller pump. The gear was on its second upgrade when mine was replaced. That considered, it might be ok for the stress now. Ive seen it, and I wouldnt want to load it even more as would be necessary in supplying the accoutrements of a cab. It would be nice to hear from a few people with high hour, full on, loader work on 7520s. Anybody out there?
