The 500C used the same orphan four cylinder Waterloo engine up to 1981. iirc the agricultural tractors dropped that engine at the end of the production of the 1972 agricultural 3020 version of the 500 series industrial.

It appears to be the ''B'' series. I did find one number besides the engine number and it was, B153 151032R. And it does have swing cylinders on the boom.
You know I have a question for All! This machine from JD, is it better than other machines? They sure made it more complicated than other machines that is for sure. HEAVY HEAVY DUTY. Thank you. Frank.

SEEPED may be a better word than LEAKED. You already stated the new 3010/4010 hyd pumps without a DRAIN LINE didn't leak on the stage at their introduction.

Frank, The 500b tech manual was just for the 500b. There is however a ctm for just the radial piston pumps only, ctm7. I believe You can buy these direct from Deere on the yellow iron stuff at johndeeretechinfo.com. I believe you can even download them as opposed to waiting for the cd or printed version. As I mentioned before if not doing the work yourself get quotes for repair vs replace, you may save yourself gobs of headache and time for about the same $. There was some machine work required many times on the valve seat on the outlet side. And if doing shaft, brgs, seals, etc then you will want to go ahead and replace inlet and outlet valves (or atleast the disks) and seats also. Good luck, this was a pretty darn good closed center system that Deere used for over 30 years and was a big part of what put them on the map. If end up replacing you may also look to upgrading the stroke control valve to electronic ( stroke control valve should also be rebuilt if doing all of the other work mentioned).

Seeped IS probably more appropriate and is not limited to deere. I think it is pretty comon for most higher flow pieces today (regardless of MFG) have some form of seepage that is returned to the system. I don't think anyone is saying however that this was a bad hyd pump though, pretty safe to say it ruled the roost for a lot of years until oems started thinking about pressure and flow compensated systems thus ending this much simpler closed center only system.

May I ask what type of electronic stroke control valve you're referring to? I've never heard of one but my knowledge of JD ind equip is limited as I was employed by an Ag only JD dealer.
