Major Recall On some of the 4X20 series!!

Took My 4320 to the dealer today for a tooth bar and a fuel sending unit, get the pressuse checked on the backhoe. And when they put in my serial # my tractor had a PIMP ( Product Improvement Proceedure) Some of the 4X20 have bad springs in the injector pump that causes a lean condition that can destroy your engine with a lean condition. I'm not sure but it did sound like it was only certian serial #s but they need to fix it asap.

Just thought I would pass it on. I received no notice in the mail?

My dealer just called me arranging to pick up the 4520 on Friday. According to the information he got from JD, it's more than just a risk of running lean, there's some risk that an injector spring might break.

He strongly advised me to not use the tractor! How'm I gonna last through the weekend?! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Oh, wait. I have two other tractors I can play, er - I mean, work with. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But that one's my new baby!

Could someone post the PIP number? My dealer says that there is no such thing on the 4X20 series. I hate to use it much till I find out.

Go TO THIS LINK on the JD product improvement site and type in your serial number, see if it applies to yours.

Thanks, Wally! I was looking for that link earlier...

I put in my 4520's machine serial number and sure enough, up popped PIP 06LV099, injector springs...

So it works... and they're coming to take mine away on Friday. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just checked mine , says theres no improvements needed,for my 4520. I bought my 4520 in 2004 ,wonder what the time frame is. Mike

My 4520 is a 2006 model, delivered in February, so maybe this PIP applies to recently built engines.

Checked mine (2005) and it says no PIP. The dealer does not have much on the PIP except to say that it does not apply to mine.
