Here's how it looks now, from the side. This is where I'll need to straighten the bend and move it more upright so it doesn't hit the seat.........

Here's where it attaches to the trans case, same way as Yanmar does it. I was concerned that the lift bars were going to hit the support bracket, but it just clears with about 1/8" all around! The other brackets I might add are angle brackets that bolt in the exposed holes on the back of the case and then will bolt into the open area on the support behind the case

The back half of a YM1602D is very, very similar to a John Deere 650. It would be interesting to see a ROPS for a JD 650 and to see how close it would be to a bolt-on. The 650 is a two-cylinder, but from the bellhousing back, the similarities are striking. Just FYI....

Wow.. I hope you get it working. Most rops designs I see ar at least perp, and some even swept back, to help arrest a backflip before the tractor goes over enough to let weight ont he mounts be a huge factor.

The last thing I'm going to do is bolt a piece of angle across the back to mount a small plastic toolbox to hold the odd crescent wrench and screwdriver plus some assorted pins and such. Also, I have to mount the seatbelt attaching brackets and install the belt, as many have pointed out, a ROPS system isn't much good with out a belt. I appreciate all the expertise shared with me here on the forum, but if I didn't already have this one to modify, I think I would have bought one rather than build it from scratch.
Last pic..........
