How many of you saw this on CNN?

<font color=blue>"BILLINGS, Oklahoma (AP) -- An 89-year-old man crawled for 23 hours to report a tractor accident that left his wife dead, authorities said.

Florence Ruth Holba of Billings died Friday after the tractor driven by her husband, Edwin Holba, rolled over her on the couple's farm in rural Noble County, state troopers said Saturday.

Mrs. Holba, 80, was standing behind the tractor when Holba's foot slipped off the clutch, the state highway patrol said. The tractor rolled backward over her, pinning her beneath it.

Holba got off the tractor but fell when he went to check on his wife, the patrol said. Holba, who usually requires assistance to walk, was unable to stand and crawled for 23 hours until he reached his residence and called for help shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday, troopers said.

The couple's son, Jim Holba, said his father crawled about 400 feet from the tractor to his home.

He said his father was hospitalized with dehydration. "</font color=blue>

I see another poster and I reported this simultaneously. No problem if you want to delete this post.

IN the version of the story I read, not here, the reporter added that man only had to crawl 400 feet to his house...and that took him 23 hours...man that must have been one tough crawl....tough getting old.

Help I have fallen and cannot get up and worse I runned over my wife and she cannot get up either /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif .
His crawling speed averages the amazing velocity of 0.27 feet per minute or approximately 3.24 inches per minute. I wonder if there might have been marital problems, maybe the old fellow has a girlfriend and thus his motivation was not all that great. H#@l, I think a dead person can crawl that fast. J

Since he could only crawl with the use of his arms (story said he needed assistance to walk so I assume he had to drag his legs) this might explain why it took him so long. I imagine there were a lot of rest stops along the way.

Ain't it sad that we - due to the unceasing deluge of news on marital violence - have such thoughts. Unfortunately, that was my thought too ...

I just assumed that he had passed out several times along the way. Imagine having that feeling like when you first wake up in the morning and the reality of some terrible event that happened the previous day washes over you - now imagine that same feeling but waking up in the dirt and that the event isn't over yet. We can all hope to never have to live through such an experience, especially at that time in our lives.

Oh, I really doubt they had any "problems". They must be quite a pair, she walks him, then lifts him onto the tractor and then she hooks up his implements for him---and all he had to do was keep the clutch pedal pushed in /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif ? What I would like to know is what were they building, doing? J

This sounds fishy to me too. Maybe the guy was hurt bad enough that he kept passing out or something, but 23 hours to go 400 feet? It just doesn't sound right to me.

A quick people search on Yahoo shows that there is an Edwin Holba in Billings, OK.
