Very neat, nice looking jobs.

I wish you were the contractor up here where I live. They've been knocking back the bush at the side of the roads here and they make an awful mess of things. Your work looks very tidy afterword.

LarryRB- I am actually located in eastern MA. I subcontract to Asplundh Tree on many ROW jobs and they use Levesque for the moves of their larger equipment like the skidder you see in that picture.

Jimmyj- Thanks for the compliments. I try my best to leave things better than they were before I got there.

Here's another job I did in the last few months in Millbury, MA. I had 2 miles of ROW in which I had to clear underneath the wires and around the poles. I finished this job with a laborer from Asplundh in just under 2 weeks.

Kinda fun job, as I went from swamp under one set of wires, 300' farther down the line I found myself going up a steep rock encrusted hill for a couple hundred feet, and then into a field and back into another swamp. Variety is the spice of life, right?:D

Here's a few before and after from the same job. The vegetation was extremely dense and about 10'-12' tall.

A couple more before and after. This cut was done to facilitate access to the ROW I was mowing from the main ROW for the utility and their trucks and equipment.

What's up ARP, good to see you over here. Between here and LS I think I spend 2hr's a day sometimes. The construction forum here's got some good mulching threads at times. I'm sure you'll enjoy, welcome.

Matt;)

Great Pics (keep posting if you get the time). ROW looks alot better once your done.

I got a question about the swamps: Do you try to mulch over the swamps, or drive around them? How close are you allowed to get to a waterway like a swamp or stream? Oh and do you have a winch :D

Thanks for the welcome Matt! Everyone here seems real nice and I have enjoyed perusing the various mulching related threads. Nice to see others on here representing the business. How's the new venture panning out for you these days?

Scooby- Thanks alot for the compliments! I try to at least check in once a day, but the next few weeks are looking interesting in terms of free time (or lack thereof.) It's ok, I just stay up late anyway! :D I'll be getting some more pics up in the coming days. I have at least a year's worth of photos that I'm just itching to show. I also have some nice heavy iron pics from my previous employer.

Regarding the swamps, if we can, we will cut right through them. You know it's wet when you can't walk by foot over the swamp grasses! If we can't get a machine through, then yes, we will either cut our way around or trailer around to the other end or sideway of the ROW and work our way back to the swamp. In terms of other wetlands, we have to keep the impact to a minimum. I usually try to avoid crossing any wetlands or streams, but if that's not possible I keep my route over them confined to one area to minimize the disturbance and release of sediment downstream.

And unfortunately, I do not have a winch. If I'm on a job with a skidder that has a winch or another machine that I can run a cable between, I will usually get a tiny more daring. If there is no winch nearby, I just call it quits when the machine starts to swim! There's a fine line between being "ballsy" and finding yourself down for a day because your machine is 4ft down in mud and you have to dig it out.

Andy, the new venture's going well. I started a harley raking job this weekend but got rained out on Sunday. The hardest part is the customer part. The customer had about 3 ac they wanted leveled. One 1 ac section was a breeze and I had it done in about 2hrs. They were extremly please with the results. The other 2 ac area needs about 20yds of fill to make it look as good as the 1 ac section. I explained this to them but they said they'd rather use the money for Hydroseeding. While this is a fine by me I think it's a waste. The ground is wet with poor drainage and lots of decomposed granite. Not real good for a nice lawn. So I suggested about 2-3" of good topsoil and I'd cut the ground at an angle to allow proper drainage. But it still fell on deaf ears. I'm not going to lose sleep over it,but I want them to be happy with the final results. And good work gets you more work. Sorry for the rant and hi jack. Keep the pics coming.

Matt:D
