He says the Mishu units will be from the same series that Cub is currently using for their 30+- hp tractor. And then I hear that another rep is saying that their will be no more new mitsu tractors but they will have a whole new line of compacts in 2007 from India. Yes, people do know, but most that do know are ones trusted with such advance info and therefore don't talk about it openly until the products are announced. But as you are clearly aware, there are often more rumors than fact as we all pick up a little info here and there. Mahindra, and most other companies, is always looking forward to the future and has a number of new models in the pipeline. 3 new models will be out in the next few weeks. I only feel free in sharing this as we should have some at the World Ag Expo.

The aquisition of the Chinese company is old news, what effect that might have on the USA market has not yet been announced. Regarding the compacts from India, who knows, but if you take a look at the newest models from the Indian engineers (6520-7520) it is clear that they produce a world class tractor that is ergonomically correct, high quality, and a pleasure to operate. Could they do that in a smaller package? Surely they are able. Would they do it? I don't know. The current Mitsubishi series is wonderful and expanding, indicative of as long term relationship with Mitsubishi.

So what gets done at the plants here in the U.S.? Do they just bolt the wheels on like a Kubota dealer does or do they do something more involved? My local dealer said they have plants in Georgia and Texas, I believe.

Also, I was told by the rep I talked with that you can now get Ag tires on the 15 series, which my brochure does not confirm. He said I could just have my dealer order out a set of tires and rims and make the switch from the R4 tires on the tractor sitting on his lot. True or not, from your perspective?

Another thing, and I hope I'm remembering the right tractor here -- on the gear model they had sitting there, the shift gate had 1 and R aligned and synchronized, allowing pretty efficient shuttle shifting when working with the loader -- can you confirm or deny? Maybe that was on the small TYM I saw in among the Zetors with the JD engines that are going to be replaced by Cummins next year, or the Montana's that are made by Mahindra except the big ones with JD engines, or the Bransons that looked really well made but are too big for what I need and supposedly are made by TYM when they aren't busy making their own or Mahindras or maybe 8N Fords.

I'll try to answer some of your questions.

The tractors come into the USA in Georgia, Texas, and now at our place in California as well. They are in crates to maximize freight efficiency and minimize any freight damage. The final assembly varies a little per model, but basically the wheels/tires, seats, steering wheel, ROPS, three-point arms, some lights, batteries, etc., are installed here, plus the loader and backhoe if applicable.

Ag tires are available for the 15 series. We have some in stock, but most units in the west go out with R4 tires.

Yes, the reverse to first is a simple operation, but not quite as quick as a shuttle or HST in my opinion.

Branson is not made by TYM. Branson does build Cummin's A series engines.

Mahindra does not make tractors for anyone else, including Montana, but Mahindra does use TYM to build a few models that they market here as Mahindra. The model line from TYM has shrunk considerably as the Mitsubishi built 15 series has replaced all the under 35HP models. This is old data, but in 2004 I believe Mahindra consumed 70% of TYM's production worldwide. I suspect that isn't the case anymore, but I have no facts.

I believe a big part of this is not to minimize damage as much as it is, saving inport duties. These companies would pay ten times what they are paying now if tractor came in complete,,, Remember years ago a little Japanese pick up built on a car chassis paid mega dollars in import fees.
