With all the TV shows that are on and they see what people do, they definitely knew exactly what they were doing. In this case and others age should't matter and they should serve life without parole.

Because both boys aren't even in their teens yet, good luck trying to find any updates. They're children, news reports can cause them harm growing up because they'll be stigmatized.

We recently had a killing in high school in Winston Salem. Think it was the first one.

15 year old shot another boy in school. School lockdown, huge in the local news because it seems it finally happened here (school shooting).

Took about 2 weeks for anyone on the legal side of the justice system to actually let the public know who the shooter actually was. I'm guessing that's because they have stated (when they mentioned his name) that he is going to be tried as an adult.

Seems between Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem the news is either leading off with the weather or a murder. I looked and Winston Salem has higher crime percentages than Charlotte, which sad to say, I can believe. Most of it is young black youths shooting each other over stupid stuff and or drugs, or drive by shootings with errant bullets hitting innocent victims.

A few years back, I had my drivers side window shot out as I passed a farmhouse on a rural road. It was all I could do to keep from going into a ditch! I called the police and they arrested a 16 year-old boy with a pellet gun. When questioned, he said "It seemed like a fun thing to do"!

Since there were no injuries, the charges were eventually dropped. Go figure.

In Fall '71 got my ears blown out thinking I'd been shot. (BANG!) Car was '62 TR3 whose 3mm sliding plastic side windows rattled like a snare drum at >55 or so mph. They didn't need anything to be hitting them & I might wear earplugs when driinig up to NH or down to Boston for the rattle & wind noise.

Anyway, I was dark & I pulled over to see who was on that hill shooting at cars, hoping the car wouldn't be disabled by something apparently so violent. Meh, apple tree on the hill, apples and surely a kid or two under it .. a week before Halloween. Bits of apple pulp and skin on the window so I thanked my creator and drove on.

My EX, post divorce, was out on her property and one of her neighbors was shooting in her direction (they're idiots). Ricochet off her forehead just above one of her eyes. It was a .22. To a woman, having a facial scar is pretty bad. Pretty sure, however, that she realizes that it was likely the best outcome (outside of NOT being shot at and hit).

Speaking of ricochets, it's possible that the kids hit the tractor and the bullet ricocheted off the tractor and hit the guy. Possible. So, it's therefore possible that they were really only shooting at the Tractor. Clearly, as the outcome tells us, this mattered little.

Hunting... I never wanted to hunt with a modern rifle. If you can't hit with one shot then stop: people are inclined to squeeze again. I would only hunt black powder: you're a lot less likely to pull the trigger hastily.

Bottom line since kids were 8,9 you have to be 10 to go to juvenile detention. In S.C. "the hand of one is the hand of all" so both charged with involuntary manslaughter since their intention wasn't to kill the poor man.
Kids released to parents custody.
I bet the widow would be able to sue both kid's parents if she wanted.
Not much else I could find, but everyone knows young boys: "Betcha can't hit that tractor" probably what happened, something that will haunt them forever.
All kids do stupid things.
