I'm late to the game but you could always take a cue from what some manufacturers do to mark the center of extension for a hyd cyl.. etc.. Add a 'travel rod'
Hose clamp a stiff wire rod to the leveling fork. Crankt he fork down to what you consider max travel. cut the stiff wire at a point that will coincide with some visual reference.. an existing mark.. or the bottom of the crank assy.. etc.
Easy to remove, or reposition and non maring.. etc.
