Massey 1540 starts idles but no increase of rpms

Just because its an electric shut off, doesn't mean it doesn't have a MANUAL shut off lever on it..
Its on the top cover..

Have a 1540 massey 2007 with power shuttle. I can start the engine, it will idle but will not accelerate. Little more black smoke than typical. did this last time I used it and with time rpms came back.

I am running winter fuel with antigen additive. Check air cleaner, looks ok. now what?

Where are we at with this rascal? Maybe undo a fuel line before the fuel pump and check the natural gravity flow. I found two tiny pebbles in the "petcock" on one of these last week. Had similar symptoms. Take compressed air and blow back through the line and siphon out the fuel. Use a shop vac and get the rest out. Don't use a shop vac on gasoline. It may blow up. Shop vac on diesel fuel hasn't killed me yet and I've done this trick many times. You may have to ducktape a flexible hose to the end of your vacuum.
