Oil & Fuel Massey 165 won't stay running

Thank you, that is very helpful. After sleeping on it, and after your assurance that I can't get it hopelessly out of time, I'm sure I can get it apart if need be and take it somewhere to be repaired. That would be a 7 or 8 hundred $ repair job? Ouch.
After lunch, I'm going to check the supply side again, even though I've checked it twice Hope springs eternal.

Dieseltech nailed it, except there is only one Allen bolt on the gear. You have to remove the oil filler to get at it, then three bolts and the lines. There is also a timing mark where the pump bolts up. Make sure everything else is working before you diagnose the injector pump. It is the expensive part of the fuel system.

Gengine is correct about allen screw in center, this holds pump hub to drive shaft in pump, DO NOT REMOVE THIS SCREW, remove three bolts that go through gear only, they are 5/16 fine thread that hold gear to hub. My S 90 puller has hex head 1/2 inch size, but some Perkins did use allen heads on gear screws also. Just repaired a 135 pump for fellow in Missouri that he mailed to me last week, is going back in mail tomorrow, was under 200 to repair his. G'day on the top of your lift/prime pump there is a small bolt/screw remove this and the plate and there is a filter in there, these quite often get overlooked and can cause the probs you are having.
