I'm stumped!

Did all of the obvious stuff; oil level, clean filter, inspect for leaks. quadrant levers actuate the valves, I cant hear the relief valve hissing

It has enough pressure to raise a heavy disk as soon as i start it but thats and thats it, a few seconds later, nothing on the remotes and the three point wont raise .

A clue may be that the arms start to raise a few seconds when I let the clutch out after a cold start up. I put an implament on the pto power gets thru.

Any Massey folks any ideas where to look next? This model has two pumps

Hook up a cylinder to the remotes and see if it works both ways. First check I'd make is fluid level and proper viscosity. Friend had a Kubota that had the same symptoms caused by not using the lower viscosity hydraulic oil. Changed it out and the tractor worked as expected.

I plugged it on a disc harrow and it had enough pressure to pick it up and it quits before i have time to operate the cylinder in the other directon.

The oil looks good and of correct viscosity but I compare it to a new pail.

Thanks for the tips.

Look at my handle.
I've been on Fergusons and MF equipment for 60 years.
We had a 250 for aboot 2 years from new.
Biggest piece of :poop: ever.
Main problems were in the hydraulics.
Dealer couldn't get it right under warranty.
Traded it away and never looked back.
I've known a few of these tractors locally and they were all cursed with hydraulic issues and rotten steering.

I have four old Massey's on this farm
and the owner of this one has 8 or 9 and we both like them.

I am trying to help the farmer next door as I am a mechanic, but this one has me scratching my head.

I'll pass on your your experiance to him. If you have some advice to help resolve this,(besides selling it) I would be grateful.

I ran a 250 years ago, it would take a fit once in a while and the remotes wouldn't work. Play with the combining valve and the black knob and then it would start working. Work ok for days then have to start over.

Everything would of course should stop if you put the clutch through the second stage. PTO sounds like it works so that clutch is holding and not slipping once the hydraulics build pressure.

Sorry I can't be a more positive source for you.
But like I said ours was purchased new and the dealer couldn't get it right with 4 or 5 mechanics.
Only Massey that was such a lemon in my world.
