2006 Massey Ferguson 1528
Just got this MF1528 tractor and the steering cylinder is leaking. It appears that I can not replace the cylinder as no one seems to have a replacement cylinder. I am wondering if this cylinder is able to be rebuilt with new seals as opposed to replacing it. I didn’t want to pull it off just to find out it can’t be rebuilt. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Seal kits and other components seem to be available through Massey-Ferguson. Open this link to Massey-Ferguson PartsBook: https://parts.agcocorp.com/us/en/ap.../651791/l&name=MF 1528 / 1531 COMPACT TRACTOR Scroll down to 308 & 310. Looks like there are 2 different cylinders, and which one you have is determined by the serial number.

Might be best to contact your local dealer to determine exactly which seal kit you need. I didn't spend much time looking, but there should be a complete seal kit, they have them listed separately. I selected a local dealer here to show price of each, but not sure that will carry through by opening the link above. You can search for price at a dealer by entering your zip code for several of the closest dealers to you.

I'm sure there are aftermarket seal kits for less if you had the complete seal kit number. Or, if you don't want to tackle the job, you probably have a local hydraulic shop that rebuilds cylinders.

Thanks for the info. I will contact a dealer as you suggest to make sure I get the correct kit. Good to know it can be rebuilt

Have your serial number when you call, it may help. Save that link to the parts book. Any other part you may need should be listed there. Always use the OEM part number when looking for parts, so you know it is the correct one.

Another possibly easier and cheaper way, is to pull the current seals out and go get new ones at an hydraulic shop.
