The tiller I bought used from a Kubota owner, and I have to say it has worked extremely well for me. We have a very small garden and I've gradually eliminated the rocks, so it has no problem. What used to take me about an hour and a half with a small Mantis tiller takes about 8 minutes with that beast, no fooling. It's almost scary. It takes me longer to set it up on the 3-pt hitch than it does to do the job.
I've even used it to dig up some recently cleared land to extend my lawn, and again, it did well, though I was careful not to set it too deep. Since I was just planting grass, that wasn't a problem; all I needed to do was rough up the top 2-5" or so. Roots up to around 2" in diameter, no sweat. (Well, maybe just a little sweat; smaller than 2"-- zing! they're gone.)
Search for fluids on the forum and you'll get lots of experiences and opinions. All I use is generic "premium" hydraulic fluid, both in the front axle and in the tranny. So far no problems, but I do agree there are better alternatives out there if you want to spend a bit more. I don't believe I work my tractor that hard, so OEM-rated fluid's good enough for me, though I often think about switching to 90-wt gear oil in the front axle. Just completed my 500-hr service last week. ijk
