Hello all

I replaced the ignition switch and now I have a No Crank-No Start situation. The dash lights come on but that's all. I'm thinking maybe a bad safety switch. Can some please explain how to test or "jump" the safety switches in order to test them. I have the seat, PTO, & the transmission safety switches that I know of. Any ideas on what the problem might be.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Welcome to TBN, lots of good information here.

Can you give us some history as to why you replaced your ignition switch?

How old is your battery?

Do you have a volt meter? If so what is your battery voltage? It gives a indication of battery health but a load test is the best indicator.

Are your battery leads and connections clean?

Do your headlights come on, are they bright?

Does your manual have an electrical schematic?

I'm sure other members here will have more questions or other things for you to try, just give us as much info as you can.

First explain why you replaced "Main Switch".....

Do you have SHOP manual for your 23XX?...

My shop manual for my GC17xx has chart like below.....IF your 23XX has similar switch that is similar to chart I would verify new switch is good and if proved good, you have problems elsewhere.....

IF all you safety switches were working correctly before "Main Switch" change there is not a reason they would not work correctly with new switch.... Are all the levers (high/low and PTO) in correct position, did you bump one accidentally into operated position while working with MAIN SWITCH......

Mail switch power.jpg

Circle in box shows 12 volts at each switch position....

So a little more information on my situation. At the beginning of spring this year when I went to use the tractor for the first time of the season since parking it for most of the winter. When it was parked everything worked normal. When I went to start the tractor for the first time this spring when I turned the ignition switch nothing happened. No sounds & no lights on the dash. I had already replaced the ignition switch about 2-3 years ago. When I removed the old switch it was completely corroded and one wire had become completely disconnected. Same similar conditions as to why the switch was replaced the first time. I'm disappointed that the $100.00 switch from the dealer only lasted 2-3 years. Everything worked normally before the switch replacement. After the replacement the dash lights will come on and the glow plugs work but no-crank no-start. I wouldn't think that a safety switch would "go bad" just sitting for one winter. I have a good 12 volts at the battery and battery is in top condition. I made sure all of the levers for the safety switches were in the proper position. I also tried starting the tractor while moving the levers to make sure they were making sure they weren't out of proper positioning/contact. I don't have the shop manual for this tractor but I found a manual online for my GC2310. After the tractor would not crank I did a quick google search for the most common/popular possible problems. I have checked all the fuses and they're all good. So I'm in the beginning stage of trouble shooting.
Thanks to WranglerX I will use the information he provided to verify that the new switch is working properly. I think the issue will turn out to be something simple.

Thanks again to everyone for the help.

Test your switch with a volt/ohm meter then go from there

Have you tried tapping on the starter solenoid while cranking? mine is starting to stick now.
