I think it's tough to say without pointing out two specific models. Kioti is "compared" to Kubota all the time as far as performance. On the other time I have never seen McCormick compared to much of anything except the larger Case/MF/NH tractors. On name brand/recognition I'd say Kioti and McCormick still bring up the rear, any other words are on the lower tier.

I would list out the specs of the specific compacts, McCormick vs. Kioti and then it would be easier for people to weigh in.

I don't know which one will fit my needs yet. We are currently looking for property and not sure what size will fit the property yet. Thats why I am looking at manufacturers right now and not specific models. I am looking to put manufacturers in a certain order and then figure out by price and features which tractor would then suit my needs.
Wow, did that come out right?

Having just sold a 98 Cub Cadet 7000 and having just purchased a new 2008 R2844HST Montana I found this thread very interesting. I knew that Montana and McCormick were virtually identical tractors and not having a McCormick dealer nearby we went with Montana. We had researched brands and specs for nearly a year prior to buying and we are VERY pleased with the Montana. Power/weight/price and lifting capacities put the Montana at or near the top in every category. They have a 0% for 48 and a points up front for 60 months that is fantastic. This little tractor has generated a lot of interest in the neighborhood and I would certainly recommend the Montana line to anyone who is interested in listening. Thanks for letting me get in my two cents.

The kioti has low rates, case I think has 0% right now also, and I think mccormick has 0% right now also.

Awesome info...that why I like these boards. I have heard of montana before but never knew of any dealer around. The case/ih dealer just started carring the mccormick line.

Every heard of JB Hunt? They pretty much started the company. From my understanding, JB Hunt got stuck with a bunch of tractors because someone they were shipping and/or warehousing for went belly up. and left them with a bunch of tractors. They looked into the tractor business then created Montana.

That's the story from the way I heard it.....

Some of this is true but there is far more to it than that. We have been with Montana from the beginning. JB Hunt and two partners started Montana. That was Charlie Goforth and Dan Downing all great guys.

I know that mahindra casts alot of stuff for different manufacturers. My 1433 is identical in many ways to the mahindras. It looks like a massey hood iseki engine & mahindra axles, frame, & platform. Even the brake, & clutch pedals are the same right down to the rubber pads. The parking brake, tilt controls & all are the same. So hows that feel to ya. LOL. I really like the mahindras & it may be my next tractor. 55,65 or 7520. There nice.

Well, finally bought property/house. THe land is smaller and different from what I was looking for, so tractor size has changed. This property is about 17 acres, 2 ponds (stocked). about an acre where the house is, about 1-2 acres in pond area, 1/2 acre beside house, a long driveway and the rest is woods.

SO, a larger frame size tractor will not maneuver around well. Probably have to drop down to something just above sub compact. I dont think anyone make this size besides kubota (like a 2620, 2920), JD(2320,2520), and kioti makes a ck20. Haven't got to check on mahindra yet. Case made a dx26 a couple years ago, but cant find too much info on it because its not made anymore. I don't really want to go subcompact, especially for ground clearance issues. I like a joystick mounted on the fender area(beside your hip) and I like the 2 separate (side by side) pedals for Hst(seems as though 99% probably are HST only). JD is the only one that had both but felt just a bit cramped in the seat. Anyone know of a smaller tractor that may fit the bill. Mccormick doent make anything in this smaller frame size.

Thanks

You might also look at the MF 1523, Agco ST-24A, Challenger MT225B (all the same machine), NH TC23DA or TC26DA (same as CaseIH DX23 and DX26), Bobcat CT120 or CT122 (same as Kioti CK20), Mahindra 15 series, Branson 00 series, Montana T series, and TYM 233 or 273. These are much the same power and frame size as the ones you mentioned.

Another one to check out in the size range with good power is the new Kioti CK27. Just saw one last weekend for the first time, nice.

The Mahindra 2415 or 2516 has 0% financing for 60 mo. right now. Very comfortable tractor to operate.

Driving east on I94 around Michigan mile post 85 around 1:45 PM on June 13, 2008, I observed three MC115 4wd McCormicks with trailing 3 section mowers at work mowing. This is the first time I ever saw McCormick used by mowing contractors.
