I had that blower, if you haven't already, clean the chute of any corrosion, re-paint, and make it as slick as you can. The other issue I found was the clearance on the impeller - look up options to tighten that clearance. Lastly I found it worked well enough if I didn't push it too hard. 540 rpm was the only option I had. It is old but solid/simple unit. My guess is it was designed for 540rpm?
