Sassafraspete, Dargo and other Southern Hoosiers...

Heard on the news that Indy got 2-4 inches. That should be enough to play in. Did you get any down your way? We haven't had any yet but are supposed to get a little system snow then some lake effect tonight and tomorrow. Earlier in the week they were predicting "blizzard conditions" for Thursday but it's been cut back. Too bad.

Pete, I didn't realize your front blade was on your FEL. That should be more than enough.

I used to travel to Nashville TN quite a bit. Even less snow than Southern Indiana and slightly higher "hills" but let me tell you... it's those hills, no matter how small, that make it treacherous in the winter. They'd cancel school down there on the threat of snow/ice. Between the hills and the total lack of snow removal equipment it is downright dangerous after a relatively light snow.

Up here in the glacial-scoured flatlands, we don't have to worry too much about that so bring it on!!!

Yeehaa! Snow! A lot of guys get tons of it, but in S IN we rarely get this month. Looks to be 5" already with 10 more predicted! I'm gonna hop on my tractor (gotta love the cab today!) and clear my parents and grand parent's driveway besides my own. My grandfather is in his upper 90's and will try to shovel his driveway on his own if I don't get there. His driveway is only about 30 yards long, but is really steep.

Once that is done, we will do our skiing and sledding. Yeah, flat land. However, we tie sleds to the back of our Rhino and RTV and drag the kids around until they are frozen! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Time to play!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

holy smokes.... it is 9:30 AM here and since 3AM this morning we have accumulated 8 inches already. It is supposed to be a steady snow here until thursday morning. I am starting to believe Indy channel 8 snow predictions to 20 inches.

Me thinks a snow blower would be very good right now. I am attaching a shot from my garage looking out......

the question is now.......when do you start plowing......at 8 inches, 12 inches, 16, or 20 inches? Will get wind and cold tomorrow, should be some drifting. Xmas day -6 below zero temps. Jumpin Jahosafat....

I'm sure glad that snow isn't here; however, I'm not sure we're much better off today; rain and sleet so far, but warm enough to melt as fast as it falls. But I sure don't care for that 19F forecast for tonight.

But who says it doesn't snow in the Dallas area? The attachment is a picture of my daughters playing in our backyard. Of course that was 30 years ago. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bird, thanks for the Texas snow picture. Some of my fondest memories are of my 2 kids playing in the snow around the house. If I could have those moments back again. They were very intertaining, especially when they hooked their sleds to the back of the gocart that had knobby tires. Of course, when my daughter got behind the wheel , she was a hxxxcat....and "ramped" off of banks and everything else. I should have known then that she would end up in a place like lake tahoe, snowboarding! I bought her a new board for xmas...she was using it out there yesterday.

I'm afraid we are in for a "doozy" here.

Yeah, I'd say you are. Check out the radar .

As far as when to plow, it depends on the wind for me. If it's windy, it just fills back up so I'll wait 'til it's over. If it's calmer and I know we're going to get a lot I might go out midway through. More tractor time that way /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You may not have to worry about this down there, but make sure you push your banks back enough to accomodate future snows /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
