Hi all

I have a mf135 with a FEL, I want to measure my gpm. My plan is to disconnect the return hose of the FEL from the tractor and have the oil go into a bucket to measure. My worry is that the return location (see picture) could be below the oil level in the tank . Is this possible?

I could disconnect the hose from the fel control valve but I am not sure it is a swivel connector, tractor is 50 miles away

Also is this the filler cap for hydraulic oil? (picture)

thanks

Martin

Yes, thays the filler cap, and it's using universal tractor oil and not hydraulic oil. Why flow? Most common to measure pressure.the 3pt pump gives about 14 or 15 liters pr minute, if you have multipower and the large pump it's better to use for a loader.

Obtain a hydraulic flow meter rated for your tractor's expected flow range. A typical MF135 hydraulic system flows between 3-6 GPM depending on the pump and condition.

That's actually not an accurate way to measure flow as there has to be a backpressure or load on the system. You could measure 15 gpm with a worn out pump at zero pressure but the minute you put any load on it, it'll drop. As stated above, you need a flowmeter as it will allow you to load down the system.
