Meat hammer ?

Yeah, I have one and use it from time to time. The toothed side is great for tenderizing a chunk of beef for chicken fried steak, or anything else that uses cubed steak, which is very hard to find in stores these days. The flat side is great for flattening chicken breasts prior to making anything that requires the meat to be wrapped around something. It also works well on flattening pork.

If the price of beef goes any higher I'll be looking for one :(
Do it scootr! We do it every year . . . with so many kids, grandkids, and one great grandchild and who knows what else is coming 🙃 ?. (actually, my son does most of the work now 😄).

Back in the day of grass fed beef, everyone had one. Years ago, when we had a grocery store, we had a machine that we would feed pieces of thin beef through and then sell them as "tenderized steak".

We have several types and use one all the time. Chicken or veal parmigiana are fork-cuttable tender. Other lightly breaded chicken fillets with a salad as summer meal. Pound out a whole pork tenderloin into a thin sheet to stuff and roll up with spinach, onions, and mushrooms. Also, helps meats marinate faster and more thoroughly.

Local Walmart carries one made of aluminum for less than $10 but the reviews ain’t good, seems like most folks recommend buying one made of stainless steel
IMHO, the hammer doesn't have anything on the ones that have about a dozen spikes that you press into the meat, I use one on all the deer ham fry meat that I cut up every year , it makes a huge difference in the tenderness of the fry meat, they sell them on Amazon starting at about $10.00.

Looks like Amazon sells the same two sided aluminum hammer as Walmart for about the same price $9
The stainless steel two sided hammer on Amazon costs three times as much $29
If I do buy one it will probably be the $9 one from my local Walmart

The one I am talking about is not a hammer, look up meat tenderizing tool on Amazon , I bought the one that has a rounded handle for $8.99, but any of that style will work wonders.
