Don稚 take this as a personal insult but 的ts the ABUSE, stupid.

That痴 what people object to.

.

But you're saying we should stop helping anybody, because of the abuse of a few. Are you going to be arbiture to decide which people should not be fed, or giving health care, to condemn them?

We've been manipulated into thinking the problem is with poor unfortunates and they should be punished, not the system that make health care so expensive.

If we help those less fortunate to give them a helping hand to help pull them up from their dire circumstances, they have a good chance of becoming productive citizens and not a burden.

What I said is very clear and direct. Don’t try to project your liberal BS on to me.

In my opinion it is health insurance that is the primary driver of our out of control health care costs. Insurance companies are in it for the money and they provide no health care, they just take dollars away from health care and at the same time drive up costs because the rich/powerful have great health insurance and don't care what the cost of health care is.
Interestingly, one of the things the ACA (aka Obamacare) did was mandate that insurance companies pay out 80% of premiums for healthcare. Some actually had to rebate partial premiums when they did not meet the 80% figure. So, rising premiums are due to rising health care costs. The insurance companies are no angels, but their rates reflect their costs.

The fact that most people get "free" health care insurance from their employers has allowed the cost of medical care to rocket because it was "free" to the patient. They didn't care how much it cost because their employer was footing the bill. Of course, the employers are no fools and have stagnated raises and added co-pays and cost sharing on the employees to compensate, but the horse was out of the barn in terms of the opaque cost structure of medical care.

Then as stated earlier in this thread our health care industry is also for profit, so that also drives up costs. So I guess call me a commie, pinko, rat, because until we get some form of socialized medicine, I think our health care system will remain broke. The fact that (almost) all of the other first world nations have some kind of public health care as well as many many third world nations, sure makes me wonder why we think ours is a better way, especially when we are way down on the list of quality health care
Unfortunately, everyone wants a silver bullet solution and it will take a lot of work to unravel what has been building for decades. That will take real political will because a bunch of oxen are gonna get gored and those making the most money on the current situation will pour money on their politicians to make sure the pain goes elsewhere and try to keep things the same. We can do better, but it is foolish to think there is a single, simple solution.

Didn't read all the post. My wife is short of Medicare age so she needs sign up for heath insurance. She got a quote today $1550/month $2500 deductible. In other words, since she is generally healthy, she will pay $21000 per year and gets zero from the insurance because she will hardly make the deductible.
Makes me wonder how people with normal income pay for health?
