We've got a few more projects to come. We're planning a PHD and a winch that will share the same hydraulic motor, hoses and valve. The motor is here, and the hoses, valve and fittings are on their way from Surplus Center. We may also be able to use the same motor setup for a wheel trencher.

Nearly all of the steel we use is salvaged from various sources.

We're trying to figure out a way to counterbalance some of the weight of the 60" mower in an effort to control the uphill wheel lift issue. Some sort of removable pring mechanism attached to the lift arms is our best current guess.

We also think a side boom heavy duty string trimmer might be possible. The design concept is for a hinged, lightly spring-loaded arm and fairly long skids at the cutting head to allow for a good bit of movement.

We've got the same plowshare from TSC that another TBN member (was it MossRoad?) used as a slitter, and plan to work on the cable-laying idea with it.

We also plan to shamelessly steal a bunch of JJ's engineering work for a grapple, although ours will be set up more for rocks and logs than for brush.

You might not know it fron this series of posts, but we like operating Kermit every bit as much as we like making attachments. Both my wife and I generally have big grins on our faces after ripping out some boulder that's been bending mower blades for years, or getting that wet patch of ground to actually drain, or effortlessly carrying a log that two men and a boy wouldn't be able to lift out of the woods , or...well, you get the idea. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Awsome ideas!

Mind if I steal a couple? I have been thinking about that lift boom and I think the way you have it is about the easiest way to do it.

I will also be making a dethacher rake at my last welding class on the 23rd. I think I can get it done along with another adapter plate in the 6 hour class.

Steal away! I've been told that's the way the best designs happen.

I don't think I explicitly mentioned that I plan to combine various length booms with interchangeable end attachments.

A rake would be a good thing for us, too, especially come fall.

Great idea's and great photo's.
You have given me an number of ideas, now I just need to get better at welding (can't see a thing under the hood).
Keep the photo's and ideas coming.

That's all the photos for now. I'm sure we'll be taking more as we work on more projects.

Oops! -I went back and checked. Seems I missed a couple of attachments. Should be fixed now.

I use one of the auto-darkening hoods. I never did get the hang of flipping the regular ones down just at the right time. Mine's a cheapie, but it seems to work fine.

I know what you mean. Even with the reading glasses and smoke, I have to call it blind welding sometimes.

Very nice work and some good ideas. Shows off the versalility of the PT pretty well too.

Nice work, Gravy. I really like the two receivers on the quick attach plate. Very versatile. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Gravy, how thick is the steel on the ditch scraper? Can you give me approximate dimensions? How is it holding up?

Thanks,

I came across something that you might can use to help with your welding. It is a magnifier lens that fits inside a welding helmet. Your local welding supply should have it. Just a couple of dollars. It helped me to see better. I use the automatic helmet. Good luck

Thanks J.J.
I have stopped welding unless its a sunny day. That really helps me if it is bright. I have tried using spot lights with limited success. I will get the magnifer lens and give it a try.

Bob,

The plate is about 5/16" - 3/8". I haven't used it much, but when I did it snagged some rocks pretty hard and doesn't seem to have bent. If it does, I'll add some reinforcement.

Pajoube, what # lens are you using ?

Maybe a lower # might help.

So far I have not gotten any lenzes but have taken work outside in the sunlight which has really helped. Part is due to being a rookie.

What number are you refering to, the shade number or the magnifier number.
