MF 1455 clutch problem

I am interested in knowing if anyone has had problems with the clutch in their MF 1455 tractor. My tractor has just a little over 300 hours on it and I am having to have the transmission completely overhauled. It has a shuttle stroke transmission and I rarely use the clutch. In fact when my husband broke the tractor, the splines that the clutch plate moves on were rusted, showing that I hadn't overused it. I had the MF district service rep look at it and all he would say was "It must be due to your application." He also told me that they have had no reported problems with their clutches in tractors with the shuttle stroke transmission. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

If you are meaning shuttle shift or power shift transmission, you do have a problem.

You have to use the clutch to take off and start, shift gears and also to change direction with a shuttle shift. If you have a Power Shuttle, you have to use the clutch to change gears, but not directions. If you don't use the clutch as above, you WILL destroy the transmission.

You have said that you rarely use the clutch more than once. What exactly do you mean by rarely?
