MF 1547 Four Wheel Drive broken

While moving dirt yesterday with my MF 1547 I had the four wheel drive stop working. While in four wheel drive the front end makes a terrible noise. In two wheel drive it works fine. I have to finish the job I was working on. Will I do more damage if I just keep it in 2 wheel drive? Second, any idea what I am looking at for a repair cost with the dealer? Thanks

If it isn't making a noise while in 2wd it should free spool fine and not do any damage. For some reason when the transfer case is engaged to send power to the front end, something is binding causing issues. I have little experience with 4wd tractors but I'd try to engage 4wd and move backwards to see if possible something would clear itself up. Otherwise you're looking at 100 an hour plus travel to be repaired and since it looks more than just the linkage it could be some money. Did you search the site before posting to see if this is an issue others have had?
