MF 220

I appreciate the kind words… When you have a love and passion for something… it helps…

Thank you…

I had failed to mention… another year International Harvester lost over 1 ½ billion dollars just prior to their demise… So Massey’s loss of 1 billion was pale in comparison to International’s 2 ½ billion total loss.

The ‘80’s were devastating for the entire ag industry in general… I understand a number of farmers committed suicide after the banks foreclosed on their farms and to “help” their families pay the bills…? {insurance…?}

It was certainly a very sad time for many…

Thomas, I would be willing to bet that John has a photo of his computer work area that he could easily produce. I'm not so sure that anyone would like to know the resopnse that I got this morning from M F. Typical coroprate, I don't have time for this, might miss a coffee break answer.
Here is part of my orginal inquiry:::
I have recently acquired a Massey Ferguson MF 220 compact tractor. Which I also recently found out are obselete. I know that (from my searching the internet) that they were built from 1978-1984, imported from Japan. They
have a 26.7hp, 90.3cid, 2cyl, Toyosha diesel engine. They weigh 2765lbs and cost new $8,486.00 . Beyond that, there isn't much to be found out about them.
The MF parts hotline was searched. No Parts available.
I have searched the national tractor salvage hotline and very, very few parts can be found.
Searching the tractors for sale sites, I have come up with one (1) for sale and an MF 210. All of this sparked my curiosity. I have been trying to find out the history of the 220 and no-one seems to know much about it.
The response that I recieved this morning::::

Subj: Massey Ferguson MF 220
Date: 1/28/2002 8:36:12 AM Eastern Standard Time
From: Doug.Durand@agcocorp.com (Durand, Doug)
To: MARBILROG@aol.com

Your local MF dealer should be able to order the parts for you. As far as the history goes, we cannot be of much help. You might try www.yesterdaystractors.com <http://www.yesterdaystractors.com> This is a
good site and has a lot of info.
Thanks

I guess that good old Doug didn't read my inquiry or has a real short memory. I wanted to tell him that although 'yesterdaystractors' is a great site, maybe he should visit 'TractorByNet'. He might learn something. I was very nice in my response to his mail. Used my 'focus skills' and let him know what I thought. He must have missed his 'focus class' I have to go twice a year, company policy.
Have a wonderful day.

I have a MF220-4 and most(if not all) parts are available from a good dealer. By the way, the 4wd version has 31.6 hp , or at least that is what my dealers info manuals said. It helps with the extra weight and driving mech. I guess. Mine has a loader and seems like it would push a mountain if you asked it. All in all I couldn't have asked for a better tractor in my limited expierience.

I must admit that it is a sweet running little tractor. Even with a crankcase full of diesel. Long story, but it seems to have blown a seal in the injection pump. Four dealers in my area all say the same thing. You have to take it off and have it rebuilt somewhere. They can't get seals for it. I don't suppose that you have tried to find an exhaust manifold for yours either. They are also obsolete. Where I live now. One acre(very steep acre) on the side of a mountian. The only use that I have for a tractor is dirveway upkeep. I bought a 1996 Long 2360 for that and the next week, just my luck, I ran across the MF 220 with FEL and RB for an unbelievable price. Being the country boy that I am and love to play on tractors, I couldn't pass it up. Didn't need it, just wanted it. So when I get these two tractors in the shape that I want them I will sell or trade them in. Got to have that 4X4 tractor that I should have gotten in the first place. So if you know a MF Dealer that can get me an exhaust manifold, I sure could use his phone number. I would rather have that 220-4 in the pic that J.M.III posted.
Thanks for the reply. There hasn't been many about an MF 220.

Thanks, none really.
That just doesn't sound right. Maybe I should have just said, Thanks, really,

any help is appriceated. I did contact the local MF dealers in this area. They ran it through their parts hot line. Nothing to be found. I also ran it through a national tractor salvage parts hot line. One was found in western Kentucky. $150. Thanks again.

sup?

i have a 220-4. great tractor. no powersteering. great for hauling out logs- treelength. kicks [censored] in the woods.
its from the 80's. the bottom of the tractor is the best. its solid and there is nothing for sticks to get caught on.
hit many rocks on hte bottom. still kicks [censored]. never put inside for winter. still kicks [censored]. all we do is change the oil every year. lost the muffler this year, got a new black one to put on. not much baffle in it. the other one was white.
anyways .
