MF 231 / Perkins AD3.152 Blown Head Gasket or Failed Injector?

With the hard starting it sure sounds like it is trying to hydro lock which means that some how there is coolant getting into one or more cylinders. This will definitely bend a rod or break the crank. My advice would be to not try turning it over, especially with the starter, until you are positive where the coolant is going and just hope it's not too late. Before trying to turn it over be sure you have some sort of compression release like injectors out. Caring for the injectors is the most important part of working on the head as it is easy to damage one and they are expensive.

Anyone know how much the parts and labor would cost for a diesel mechanic to replace the head gasket, if the head gasket is the only issue?

Mechanic looked at my tractor today. It has a blown head gasket. Where is the best place to buy a head gasket kit and new head bolts?

**UPDATE 10-16-2020**

It’s fixed! The head gasket was replaced today. Engine runs like a new one. No smoke of any color comes out the exhaust. My mechanic did a fine job.
