Yep. Could very well be [bent]. It is going to be hard to get in there to get enough visibility to find out. Is yours a cab or platform model ?

I have a platform tractor.

If the problem is interference inside the bore in the "hydraulic lift cover" that the control tube and rod pass through - and that is the most logical conclusion I can come up with - or which otherwise requires me to raise the cover to get into the internals then it is a job well beyond my means!

You and me both ! I'd hate to have to dig in there even if it is "just" under the seat sheet metal and not internal to the chassis.

Mine is platform also. It is a "low profile" model but in these tractors that just meant lower diameter rear tires, some fender and floor features, one less step climbing up to the seat and few if any real serious mechanical differences.
