JD 2950
I’ve been researching 40-60 HP HST cab tractors . Seriously looking at the MF 2800 M, and a few specs the dealer and my online research haven’t answered. What is the turning radius and the top speed ? I found a spec that I wasn’t certain pertained to the 2800 M, for a turning radius of just over 9’6”. And found a top speed for the gear trans of 15.6 mph.
Have also looked seriously at the JD 4066R, and Kubota L6060.
I really like the physical size of the JD , with the shortest wheelbase in that class. And have always liked JD tractors. They seem to have excellent fit and finish and I like their cab interiors, switches/levers/knobs.
The Kubota has kind of a cheap looking interior and controls.
I really like the MF, and they seem to have excellent fit and finish. Looked like a better quality tractor than the Kubota , and a close second to JD.
The MF I looked at had the deluxe cab , and had a lot more standard features than Kubota.
Any opinions on R4 tires compared to R14’s ?
Thanks ahead for any answers / help / opinions.

I have the 2860M HST with Deluxe Cab. I'm not sure about turning radius or top speed, but I can say it was cheaper than a JD 4052R with a basic cab. I really wanted a JD, but the Massey just beat it out in bang for the buck. A similar Kubota was even more.

The only thing that makes me wish I had went with the JD was the dealer. If I had it to do over, I might have seen how much to upgrade the JD cab to match the MF. The MF dealer was great until they got my money....

I've got the R4's on my machine, they work for what I do, but I don't have experience with the R14s.

Overall, I'm happy with my Massey. I like the metal fenders/hood vs. plastic. I like how the entire front hood tilts up allowing easy access to the engine/filters/screens. I like that the Cab AC has a recirculation feature when mowing pastures with lots of dry, dusty debris blowing around. The cab mirrors are nice. The lights on the cab are nice. The lower fuel tank fill is nice. The air ride seat is nice. The Massey cab also has rear quarter windows on each side which the JD doesn't, and the cab seems roomier overall.

The tractors you're looking at are pretty similar, enough that I'd put a lot of weight on dealer after-purchase support. IMO MF offers a lot of value for your money in this range.

When it comes to tractors you need to ascertain the end use and what you are expecting it to accomplish. In my situation any tractor with an HST transmission is not acceptable because I farm with them so they have to be gear drive, have draft control and at least 80 pto horsepower and a dual speed pto and be able to run the pto when not seated in the tractor cab as well plus a decent road speed because my fields require limited road travel and time is money and I don't want to be indebted forever which is why the last one I bought, I bought used on Tractor House. Had to put some jack in it but ended up with a very nice unit at a very reasonable price and I always deal with the same dealer and I trust them 100%.
