I would appreciate any comments from anyone about these tractors, especially current owners.
Thank you
Mike

I chose a 491 cab 4wd to be my primary utility tractor. I have a Ford 1920 for garden use and a Mf 1130 for what requires 18k lbs and 120hp. The 400 series is like a basic "work truck" as compared to a Silverado or LXT Lariet. Less fancy electronics, basic transmission, basic cab. They are heavy framed utility tractors. In my area, they were the best $/per hp tractor. I am pleased with mine.

I also have a MF1130 and can tell you this much...they are great tractors...I've been looking at a 471. The quality is there, I just need to find one at the right price.

My two cents.

Wish you were closer to W Tn - My local dealer is really trying to build up his business/move some tractors.

Sir;

I have a 471, 4WD, shuttle, FEL, etc...that I have had a little more than a year. It has around 200 hours of hard pulling on it, and I have had nothing but minor issues that I've mentioned elsewhere, but will sum up for you...
by the way - when i say i've worked it hard, i mean it - already tore one front tire to shreds, caught a stick in the field that broke off the dipstick tube, and scratches aplently. but it ain't no showroom ferrari after all..
anyway- there is a roll pin that connects the shuttle to the trans - it backed out due to vibration - fix involved putting tie wire through and tieing it..one issue with wiring that made the tractormeter inoperative at cold start...
yeah that's it. of course, regular things happen - brakes need adjusting occasionally, lift arms need adjusting, etc.

I just got a 471 shuttle 4WD with loader after having a 471 2WD with loader for 1 1/2 years. It is like a totally different tractor with the 4WD when using the loader and on hills. It is plenty large enough and tough enough for my hilly 55 acres. I like having something that will handle whatever I throw at it. I hate having to baby a tool. I wanted something that would work harder than I can work it. I really like the massey

I'm looking at a 481 4x4 that won't start. Wants close to 20k for it. I have hilly fields if I get it to fix how big of a bailer will it pull. 4x5. 5x5? What weight?
