I gave this old 2 bottom plow a new home this weekend, it's far from new but should have a lot of use left in it. Most of what I'll be doing is a vegetable garden in the spring, and maybe turning some pastures for replanting in the future.

From what I can tell it's a 12-inch, I think the distance side to side between the landsides is the size?

The points were in better shape than I originally thought, I touched up one shin with some weld on Saturday. At least for now, it's going to get a couple coats of paint and maybe some more welding on worn areas then get tucked into bed for the winter.

A bit more work done, the U-bolts holding the cross-beam were rusted solid. I had to cut the nuts off, then build up the U-bolts with weld and re-thread them.

The bottom corner of the mouldboards were worn to a knife-edge, I welded some 3/16 steel on the back and shaped it to match the original profile.

I think I'm going to do some more work on the coulters, one is seized tight. Maybe next weekend..

It's one of the fun things (for me at least) about old machinery and implements..

I like repairing things like this, most of them just need some time and a little patience. Any excuse to break out some tools brings a smile to my face.

With the amount of plowing I'll ever do, it should last for a hundred years more.. although if I have to turn some pastures it may get some serious work.

There's an Antique Engine and Tractor Society (Club?) very near where I live... I may have to drop in some day and see what's going on. The only trouble with that is space to keep all the "collectables" I know I'd end up searching out. They had a display at the local fair last weekend, I watched an old Deere running a shingle mill for a while.
