MF Dealerships - What's the Deal?

   / MF Dealerships - What's the Deal? #11
I am a Soldier stationed overseas but I have a house and property in NE Pennsylvania where my family lives. I have done a lot or research on the best CUT tractor for my needs and I think it is a MF 1528. So I contacted four different MF dealers in my area via their online "Send me a Quote" tool or by sending them an email inquiry. What I need is a price quote on a GC2400 or MF 1528 with 60"+ finish mower, front snow blade, and FEL. I get absolutely no response. Are MF dealers doing so much business that they don't need mine or are they just too lazy to respond? Is there a way to buy direct from the factory? Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a dealer interested in selling to me? I never had to beg a business to do business with me before but I am only home 2-3 weeks twice a year and need to buy this equipment so my wife can take care of our property. Need some help. Thanks

Sgt Major.... have your wife go drive one..
It might be worth it to see what she likes best since she will use it...

And thank you for serving...

hooo aahhhh...

Also she may like the JD better, when I was shopping the JD was much more comfortable than any other machine. Good luck and stay safe:drink:

Another vote for Wallace tractor. He carries Bobcat, Mahindra and Massey. He has a tractor for you and I'm sure that he will be happy to take your money. Rick goes long distances to make his customers happy. You really should give him a try.

Thanks everyone; some good info. I went to the Wallace equipment online site and it certainly looks like a nice store. It's about 90 minutes north of my place but probably worth the drive to go browsing. I was finally contacted by the closest MF dealer's wife. She apologized for them not getting in touch with me and said their saleman would contact me soon.
I agree, I should take my wife along to sit in the seat and see what she likes. She is a lot smaller than me and so size and layout might be a factor. Bigger isn't always better; she has to be able to reach the controls.

Thanks again guys.

My wife is 5' 2", the only one that the seat would go far enough forwards on was the Massey.

The seat also goes back far enough for a 6'2" person to be comfortable.

Personally i think MF dealers have improved enormously over the past few years . They have been almost an extinct breed here over the past 10 years but lateley the parts backup has been as fast as deere or ford and seem to be having more in stock and finally getting rid of the old MF being too high for parts prices, We just need more of them as they are scarce . I like my red ones but havent bought one for almost 8 years because of dealer issues, i bought a red one last week ...it is changing :)

if you included the fact that you are overseas in your email, thats your problem. We dealers get LOADS of emails like that from scammers trying to rip us off... they often claim to be in the military.

Well that makes sense. Scammers will try anything. Makes it tough for us in the service though. For another example; there is only one auto parts company that will ship products to us overseas. If you have an American made car over here in The Netherlands you will pay about 600% higher for the same part. A brake master cylinder would cost me 420 Euros here ($621.60). That same item at a US-based store is $75.00 but they won't ship it to an APO address. AutoZone is the only one I found that will ship to an overseas military address. Thanks for that bit of info; now I am just disappointed instead of angry with these dealers.

Well, everything is expensive in the Netherlands and they just don't sell or drive US cars and trucks. Ford and Chevy have a big presence here but they are models unique to Europe. Some pretty nice small cars too. Why Ford and Chevy don't try to sell them in the states is beyond me.

The MF dealer closest to my stateside home finally contacted me and gave me a quote. It was basically the MSRP for each item. I don't have too big an issue with that for an individual item but don't dealers usually offer some sort of a discount for package deals? I would think if I was selling a tractor and three attachments together that I could offer some sort of a price break.

Can't wait to see all the BS add-on charges on the final quote.
