rotate your crops and plow deep. avoid leaving after crops in the field. deny the little critters food. population goes down. get a rat terrier dog. Rat terrier will dig and kill mice all day.

This might be kind of late but I had the same problem last year with my taters and then over the winter they took the bark off my fig trees. These are voles or what they also call field mice. I would try to keep the taters weeded a little better as I made the same mistake last year and let the weeds run wild in my tater patch. This year I am going to weed better. I also read where you can put a fence up with 1/2 in squares, like a wire mesh. 10 inches above ground and 6 to 10 inches below. I wish you luck with your garden this year. T/C

Thanks from what i can find out that is the problem,....WEEDS.
