We once rented a fishing cabin that was crawling with mice. A former tenant had sketched a mouse trap concept on the wall that we decided to try. It worked well and, with some modification, it can be made into a "repeater".
Put a half full of water 5 gallon bucket on the floor next to a countertop or table that the mice use. Find a stick like a paint stirring stick about 8 inches long with peanut butter on the end. Balance the stick (lengthwise) over the edge of the countertop so the peanut butter is over the bucket. Mouse smells peanut butter, runs out on "plank", mouse and plank fall into water. Mouse can't get up the side. Pick a plank that can't be used as a raft or ladder.
I made the repeater model at home. Make the plank hinge down with a counterweight to keep it horizontal till the mouse goes out. After the mouse falls off, the plank returns horizontal with the peanut butter still there for the next one. Should be good for half a bucket of mice!
