Mice issues

ByronBob, I use the tin cat . I put some peanut butter in it for added attraction. The good thing about this trap is that it will catch multiple mice at a time.

These new traps I'm seeing are pretty neat, especially the one that electrocutes the mice. It musn't take much since it's only using small batteries.

Someone a while back posted this homemade trap:

Take a bucket, run a wire across the top and through a beverage can, put a ramp leading up to where the wire attaches to the one side of the bucket, smear some bait on top of the can. Apparently the mice crawl across the wire tite rope style and when they step onto the top of the can it flips them into the bucket. An option is to fill with enough water to drown them.
I may give this one a try today. I'm getting sick and tired of finding mouse turds all over the hoods of my tractors, but with an open sided pole barn... it may be a losing battle.

Try leaving a radio turned on in your pole barn. Since they draw very little current I have had one turned on in my pole barn since it was built. I never seem to have any varmint problems so they must get discouraged from the constant music or they just plain don't like to listen to Paul Harvey. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

TXDon thats a helluva party you throw I hear. Saw the bridge you built. I'm interested in elimination solutions and it looks like those traps are not for that. Nice idea though for an alternative.

You got me thinking. I have rats in my shed and I never tried the zapper outside. Load it up with a tortila chip with a dab of peanut butter on it and stick it in the shed. Next morning :

Notice the tail sticking out. A peek inside shows

So, guess it can handle california size rats. Not sure how it would handle anything bigger. The good part is you don't have to open any jaws or deal with it. Just dump it in the rubbish and stick in more bait. It says it is good for 10 zaps from a set of 4 AA batteries.

A little bigger and you'd have to put that one on the grill! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Does it stop working once one vermin is zapped?.. or do his buddies get to climb over him and finish the bait?

Decon mice/rat poison is pretty effective if you are persistent about its use. You can find it almost at any hardware stoe.
