Mid-mowers for L-series

Anybody using the L-series with a mid-mower for lawns/estate mowing? I have a small (46") lawn mower that I use for my lawn, but I need to mow around two barns, shop, rental house and long driveway. Would you guys recommend a tractor that large. I would also like to use the mower to mow around electric fences. I have an L2850 with mid-PTO but no mower. I use it on the farm. If I get favorable responses to this and cannot find a used mid-mower, I may upgrade to a new L3010 or L3710 (Largest with mid-PTO) with GST. A lot of farms work requires shifting between L4 and H1, seems like the GST would solve changing gears and ranges. I have tried both a rotary mower (bush hog) and a rear mounted finish mower and did not like either.

I suspect you will find the consensus of this group to be the 3710 with HST rather than GST for mid mower applications. I have a gear tractor and rear bush hog mower so I am no help. I do not find myself shifting between 4 th and 5 th gear, though for any work that I do. That would be really annoying as all gears are synchronized, but I don't believe the hi/lo range selector is. Seldom need the high gears.

The pro's to a mid mount are that it is always where you want to mow when going around a lot of obstacles. The con's are that the area mowed needs to be pretty clean and level. The pro's of the rear mounted are that you can back it under a lot of stuff that you can't get the mid mount under and it will cut bigger brush. The con's are that it is not a mid mount mower.
