Step on the clutch, which I must do if I want to start it anyway.

I just checked and the warranty is 4 years. I'm not gonna argue with the dealer, it isn't worth the aggravation. I will just get his mechanic to teach me how to do it myself.

I thought the lever had to be in the off position and the clutch engaged? Although I haven't actually tested that.

I agree, arguing with the dealer is really not worth the aggravation unless its a ton of money.

Not on mine, just stomp on the clutch and twist her tail.

If the mechanic comes from the dealership straight to here it will be 2 hours each way at 80$/hr+ the time to fix it. About 5 hours. The part itself is only worth about a buck. So they say. But the dealer also has another customer about an hour south of me, so it would cost me the hour from the other guys' place to me plus the time to fix and the 2 hours back to the shop. i still have the 'work around' in the mix so when they do fix it, when I put the snow blower on I will just put it in gear and leave it there unless I need to walk in front of the blower when the tractor is running and that will be the only time I shut the PTO off.

FWIW, If your dealer fixed whatever the original problem with the Mid PTO was, under warranty, and the same problem is occurring again, what is their reasoning as to why it's occurring? Are they attributing it to OP error, for instance, what you mentioned about possibly needing 2 instead of 1 U-joints for the lifting of the blower?

Seems to me if it's not attributable to OP error then it should be fixed again under warranty, especially since you have hardly any real time/hours on the machine. JMHO.

But is it really worth the hassle arguing with the dealer? I don't think so. That is why I want the dealers' mechanic to teach me how to do the job. I will call it a 500$ lesson to fix a 1 dollar part.

Sounds like it is a crush pin. I do know I gotta dump all the hydro oil out of it to do the deed.
I will check with them on Monday. I need to go down past them on the 7th April, maybe I can stop in and get the parts. I will definitely get two of them so I have one for a spare.

Good approach. Warranties, in general, are only as good as the service techs anyway and it's better to do whatever work you can yourself. Let us know how it goes.

If it was covered the first time and now it is not, what is the dealers reasoning. You don't have to argue just ask, I would be curious since I have a CK35. Maybe its not part of the 4 year section of the warranty?
Since you are not paying for tractor transport which could be about $2 per mile. I guess it might be cheeper for him to come to you and pay his travel and labor. Maybe even get a hydro fluid change out of it since you said he had to drop the fluid anyway. It's nice to see dealers making house calls.

Sounds like you have to drop the mid PTO to get at it to replace a pin. I don't believe it's that hard if you know what you're doing. Maybe next time.
