Midwest Gasoline to Spike $0.50-$1.00 Per gallon

Oil is in a freefall, almost $10/bbl in a week, so prices at the pump should be decreasing. Diesel here is at $3.78, down from $3.90 when I last filled up the truck. Regular gas is down to $3.00. Since inflation and high interest rates are forecast to stick around, demand for products is forecast to go down.

Now that we’ve pretty much farmed all spring & summer with the high prices, it drops.
Figures.

Crackes me up how fuel prices double from $2 to $4 and we all celebrate when it drops 10 cents a gallon. Lol

On road is $4.75

I haven’t bought gas more than 10 times in the last 20 years.

Never understood why fuel is higher in Pa.

Because we are in the top 3 highest taxed states in the US on fuel taxes.

According to the latest, you made it to #1 🥳 Yet you’re pump prices are not in the $5-6 range like other states.

It is not just the excise tax that inflates the price, it is the other fees and taxes that are added on. In California the total on a $3 gallon of gas is $1.24.

As VM75Guy indicates the new "cap and trade" tax (coming soon to a gas pump near you) on the oil companies that are passed onto the consumer are NOT counted as state taxes. Here is WA:

Funny how you can see how corporations, like oil producers, pass taxes directly to the consumer.
However, when politicians raise corporation taxes in the US, a certain voting block claps in unison like children because they think the corporations pay the taxes.

Consumers ay the taxes, always have & always will.

^yes sir. And it is not mean corporate greed. Money can only be paid by people. Companies are just vehicles through which business is transacted. If people had to pay all of their taxes directly to the governments that impose them, the taxes would be lower.

Here is a more current version...also does not account for Washington state's scheme.
How High are Gas Taxes in Your State?

Another way for the majority in the cities to stick it to rural people. City life can be done sans vehicle (unless you count the trucks that bring them food...but they buy from grocery stores, not trucks. Because they care more than you do.) Much tougher to grow the food without fuel.

Do you not pass along any taxes/price increases to your customers?
