MIL is in her last hours

She had to be a mother and a father at a time when you couldn't put the kids to bed, pour yourself some wine, and tell the world how awesome you are on Facebook. She raised her children the best she could, and not for attention or pats on the back from others.

Prayers for you & your wife. You have my deepest sympathies. When my wife lost her father, it was a long year before she was over it ... pretty much same situation in that she wanted time with him & no one else. Be there for her, love her, hold down the fort.

So sorry, prayers. My wife is in the process of losing her two, 100 yr old grandmothers. One was admitted to the hospital yetserday, the other is in a nursing home facing what will likely be her last night with us. We try to hold on so dearly to those we love. This world, as good as it can be, is a temporary trial. What is next, is so much greater… but we like to hold on to what we know.

We had a conversation early this morning. I'm going tomorrow for a couple of days. She was weighing the value of hugs versus a plane ticket. At heart, my wife is a financial person. I told her I was offended that my hugs had so little value. :)

Torvy,
As you remember, my MIL just passed away like 5 months ago. My wife basically spoon fed her for the last few years in my home. She lived with us for about 5 years.
It was very draining on us.

It’s an unfortunate “right of passage“ most of us go through. I remember saying goodbye to her. We got along OK, but not great. When it happened, I was more relieved for my wife.

MIL passed Monday evening. I had a chance to tell her she was a great mom and should be very proud of the strong woman she raised. She could not respond, but I like to believe she understood me. I'm glad my wife had a chance to say goodbye. She is coping well. We spent Tuesday tying up loose ends and making arrangements. We are both back in Texas.

Thank you all for your support.
