Mile Marker Hydraulic Winch

Out of curiosity, how heavy is the winch assembly? Is it difficult to manhandle from front to rear?

Nice job, Rob. I'd like to have one of those.

Thanks guys.
The assembly is pretty heavy now that it's on that hitch mount. I didn't weigh it, but my guess if the hitch mount weighs about 30 to 40 lbs and so does the winch and hoses. Together between 60 to 80 pounds I would guess?
I use my knees and thighs to support when slipping it into the receiver, it is a little awkward at the height I have it, but doable. I wish I could say it was easier, but that's how it is.

Yes, the manufacturer said not to run the pressure over 1,500psi.
I don't know why it's rated for such a low psi? Perhaps because it's used on a lot of off road vehicles that use the steering pump to run the hydraulics, and perhaps those pumps are lower psi...I don't know. Anyway, that is the reason for that pressure reducer or cushion valve.

Interesting theory about the PS pumps. Yes, they are low press and volume
and off-roaders often want to use them for hyd power. I was considering
going that route with my Samurai dump bed project, but I want 2000-2500psi.
Leaning toward 12v hyd power pack now.

Anyway, my hyd motor relief valve on my hyd PHD was set at 3500psi, if you
can believe that.

Again, great work, Rob.

Holy mackerel!
Good thing you checked it.

The relief is a fixed valve, designated 3500psi, non-adjustable. I did not
put a guage on it and it means little as the tractor's system relief is at
2550psi. The manufacturer (White motor and Comer gearbox) is saying
that the gearbox can handle that kind of pressure.

That last photo shows the pressure gauge. ,

Nice job (as always). It sure looks like it is an improvement over using the bucket curl and a come along!

Anyone taking bets on how long that gage lasts?

In my woods (and with me driving) it would be a fountain the first weekend!

Rob, have you sent links to the upgrades you have made to the Kama people? They may want to encorporate your creations in thier normal product line. You may even be able to finagle a free tractor in exchange for your creative genius.

John,
Thanks for your insight as usual.
I've wondered about that gage also ... and whether I should keep that winch on the tractor at all times or not. Originally it was more specific for doing work than for emergency pull outs. Crap, I was gonna keep it on there most of the time but now you've got me worried. Dang ... good catch. Lucky it's a snap to take off.

The Kama people?
I haven't had any contact with them at all regarding the upgrades, but you bring up an interesting point. Most of the upgrades could be done for quite a bit less at the factory (I presume) and would make the price go up slightly. I imagine most Chinese use their tractor for plowing or pulling in the rice fields, so they might not need some of those improvements. But for the American market, a lot of these upgrades would be much appreciated by users like us single tractor owners ... where one tractor must do all.

What about Loretta and the new Jinma?
