Millermatic 200 Elite

Well this is a counterfeit product. Serial numbers aren't even our series of serial numbers. We've never produced a product like this, although it looks like DC 3 in 1 welder of some sort. Can't tell if its mosfet or igbt technology. It does not have the digital display which all our units used since we started. The paint looks like it is a paint over. There's no side markings either or rear/side panel specifications, which all our units have had.

My guess is that someone ordered a cheap unit off ebay from China or from LOTOS or somewhere thinking it was the "same as Everlast" and when they got it it wasn't or it was broken. So, they ordered an Everlast 250EX from Amazon, took the old welder, repainted it, (also the lower part on the front looks sprayed over to cover the original name/info) and sent it back in the original 250EX box with the 250EX sticker from a new unit that we use on the upper part of the plastic panel(which sometimes comes loose) and restuck it on the repainted unit. I imagine they got their real welder for a couple hundred bucks all said and done...Whatever, though, it was crooked, and this guy is a salvage guy stuck with it. It does have a stick holder from our new 250EX units...but no TIG torch or plasma torch, which were probably junk to begin with and he kept the Everlast TIG torch and sent the new style stick torch along because he was only going to TIG weld...and it is sitting on top of a weber grill box...but the clam shell box appears to be ours...not sure.

Are we looking at the same machine? That machine must have plasma capability because of the air pressure gauge. On the Everlast sticker it says IGBT technology. It might be a copy but I doubt it has been repainted and somebody would have done a lot of work to to make it look like an Everlast, including getting an Everlast sticker made. I know their are counterfeit machines though. Could it be an Everlast for a different market, say Europe or Asia?

No you can see a tape line on the front. There is no logo on the side. There is characteristic orange peel from a poorly painted and prepped unit. Dust in the front vents thatlooks over sprayed. That is an everlast sticker from a 250 ex that is lightly stuck on the plastic handle on the 250ex that is easily peeeled off and removed. The fake unit is a3 in 1 unit which includes plasma...but it has only a new style torch holder we use that was returned with it. That is NOT an everlast unit...from any country. We have never produced one like it. Not even our serial number series. Closest thing we have was the old power ultra 205...there is no mfgr, statement of origin (made in china). Nor is there any specification sticker or label whcih would be covered over.

I assume that was a resale value question? Everlast does have good resale value. Many customers that I know that choose to selll have gotten near what they paid for their unit. In some cases OVER what they paid as our unit costs have risen. 4 years ago this unit was selling just under a 1000.00 retail. Now it is selling for 1350.00. But even lets say if if they bought it for 1000.00 and sold it for 500.00 now. That's only a 500.00 hit. If you bought a 3000.00 machine from another brand, and used it for 4 years, you may see a 30% depreciation, which would be a 1000.00 hit. But that's not typically the case as our units do go for more. I have customers frequently ask if we know of or have used units for sale. They are in demand. People post them on our forum and else where like Amazon and sell them quite quickly.

I'm not knocking the value of Everlast welders, they clearly do the job and are well priced, however they are also considered Brand X compared to Lincoln, Miller and a few other established brands. As such, there is no way they command resale values like Miller or Lincoln. Additionally, you cannot get spares at a LWS. Just things to consider in the purchase decision.

I bought my Multimatic new during a promotion but I bought my Passport and Maxstar 150 STH used. I sold both the used Millers for more than I paid a few years later. IMO, the best deals on welders, if you can wait, are the well maintained and often little used big brand welders on Craigslist.

Island Tractor, The Multimatic 200 is DC only in TIG. For Aluminum you have to use the spool gun, I wanted AC/DC in TIG and this unit has that feature that I can use for intricate repairs on aluminum. My old Lincoln AC 225 and Hobart 187 have served my needs, but wanted aluminum capability. Now I will have stick DC to supplement the Lincoln, and AC for TIG. I don,t plan on selling any of my tools, machines etc. Just hope the grand kids have learned something from me and they can use them when the passage comes. JW5875

I didn't realize your focus was Tig for aluminum. I bought the spool gun with my Multimatc so can do Al but not with Tig.

That would be mostly incorrect information you have posted there, both on the resale value and on the consumable/spares at the LWS. You say "no way" you have nothing to base it on. IF you are looking at percent or dollars, you need to specify. Just as I said, if you pay 3 grand for a unit, then 2 years later, it is worth 2000 dollars, that's a 30% hit, and a 1000.00 loss. You pay 1500 for an Everlast, and experience a 30% loss you will only get 1000.00 for it, but loose merely 500.00. I'd say 50 (usually on 5 year old units)-80% and sometimes 100% or more is a good resale value. If you follow the thread Jim colt posted where Yomax asked about resale value, and Jim posted resales for working units well less than 1/2 of the purchase price....you might reconsider. Another incorrect statement is about availability/compatibility of "spares". I don't know of any welding supply store that carries circuit boards for their units. So, you must be talking about consumables. Our TIG torches are compatible with all same series consumables in CK, weldcraft, and others. Our plasma torches are Trafimet, the worlds largest maker of torches, and has a significant presence at many LWS facilities (but does vary by region just as other brand popularity varies by region), and even used on brands like Hobart plasmas. It is a common OEM and replacement brand for Hypertherm, thermal arc and others when the old torches are too expensive or discontinued. Many companies carry trafimet or binzel which our torches are one or the other and the parts interchange with each other. You can get the MIG consumables at many welding supply stores, and even Miller used the same MIG torch we use on our smaller units on several of their models...HF, Northern, SnapOn, HTP and others use the same consumables there. The tips are compatible with TWECO and that's found anywhere.

Some of their product is manufactured in the same factory, but use different designs...Same cases as our older and some of our newer stuff but vastly different internally with design, specs, features and capability. Our Everlast distributor in Australia has built quite the following with a distinguished but coherent product line and internals that Token just doesn't have.

Another one up today.
Everlast Powertig 185 Micro AC DC TIG Welder 110 220 Volt Inverter | eBay

Mark,

On your website the specifications for the 185 tig machine have a typo. It says 1,200v..

•35% Duty Cycle at 125 Amps/ 1200V

Thanks for the heads up on the typo...Keep in mind this is not an authorized distributor and warranty does not apply. But if it sells for the minimum bid, that might be worth it as that particular unit is the latest version and has improved internals which are mostly plug and play for easy service.

Edit: Can you point me to where the typo is? Not seeing it. Maybe a direct link and then where you saw it on the page? Thanks.a
Edit of the Edit: Found it in the product comparison pages. Fixed it thanks.

I have a MultiMatic 200, I like it. I move it around a lot, it's very nice for portability. Welds good too. I have only used it as a MIG. I bought it because I was planning to weld a 1 1/4" shaft and I thought I was going to have to stick-weld it, which the MM200 does. But in the end I MIG'd it and it came out great.

This is a solid steel 1.25" diameter shaft. welded with my Multimatic 200, using .030 wire, on 240v, using a 1/4" thickness preset.

If somebody told me that I couldn't have a MultiMatic 200 I wouldn't know what to get instead but I suppose I'd have a little more money in my pocket. Portability is a nice feature for my usage. I have the spool gun # stick stinger but no TIG equip (yet).

Other photo is simply showing welding a car trailer "out in the field" as a portable welder likes to do ! I have a little 20CF gas cylinder too (which I probably should have used rather than lean that 80cf against the trailer).
