Mini Cooper opinions?

I noticed that! They ought to call them can holders, since the only thing small enough to fit is a soda can. But in a free market, I would expect to see coffee mugs soon with the bottom the same dimensions as a can of coke!

But, I also think we tend to over inform ourselves these days. Where cars are concerned especially, there really are no "bad" cars anymore, they don't survive the marketplace. Too much information gets out too quickly, and they're gone. If you like the Mini, buy the newest best one you can from a good reputable dealer, and just enjoy it!

The MG Rover company,the original maker of the mini, went into bankruptcy yesterday. A Chinese Company would not not invest in the company (Shades of things to come /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif)

I just saw a commercial for the theme park "Kings Island" down near Cincinnati and they have a new ride/theme called "The italian job" where you ride in Minis like in the movie while all the chaos is going on around you. It looked kind of neat from what i saw of it.

We just looked into the VW diesel bug and decided not to buy, but when doing the research, I recall coming across something about the Minis being sold with diesels in Europe. I think that article said the diesel version was going to become available in the US in the next year or two.

Food for thought, perhaps. )</font>

Last time I checked The resale value on a used car with a diesel was about $1000 less than the same car with a gasoline engine.

my 2 cents:

love the mini, but from a purely cost perspective, coupled with utilitarian needs and practicality, i chose the Honda Civic Si.

my daily commute is 70 miles (1 way). the car gets ~38 MPG and requires standard (87) fuel. absolutely no problems in 140k miles.

the car has a hatchback and provides substantial space for how little it is.. i live on a dirt road and live through mud seasons similar to yours in vermont. the car gets snow tires in the winter; w/o these, the car would be useless.

one of the complaints a co-worker has with the mini is all weather traction. complains about it in the rain and snow.. but those are likely a by-product of tires and not the car.

the honda civic Si is roughly 2-3k less than the mini.

the older i get, the more i look at cars as 'appliances'.
