"Mini" laptop report........

I got a Eee Netbook in July. It is great for traveling when I just want email and an occasional search. It came loaded with Skype and a mini camera, uses XP OS. Long battery life, too. I still like a full size laptop for serious net surfing, but this one is a keeper for travel.

The second one L355-S7915 is the one I bought from Wal-Mart for $348. I purchased a 15 inch machine for $298 with a smaller hard drive the week before I found the larger one on sale. I read Wal-Marts return policy, re-staged to computer and returned it and got the 17". I am in laptop heaven with that screen. I am spoiled by the 26.5 inch screen on my desktop machine.

Bruce, I am trying to figure out if this is the same as the Wallyworld one. $229 is a great price. Yes Vista....worse op system ever. My wife has it on her work laptop....nothing but problems. I haven't heard anything bad about 7 yet, so that has to be a good thing.

I have a Dell Latitude D630 with 2gb of RAM that had Vista on it, I switched it to Win 7 beta when that became available and now it has the final version on it. I must say that I like Win 7 enough that I will be installing it on my main desktop at work when I rebuild it next month (it currently has XP Pro on it). Win 7 seems to run significantly faster on this laptop than Vista did and I like it very much.

True, for what I do at work I have not had any real issues, it runs OpenVPN, Putty (Windows SSH tool), Notepad++, Office 2003/2007, Firefox, Miranda IM client, etc. I had an issue with installing Notepad++ (it said that it installed, but there were some pieces missing). It worked fine in the 32 bit beta version of Win 7, so it was probably just a 64 bit issue. I was able to get it to work by running the installer with administrator privileges and everything works fine now.

That is good to hear. Vista is a P.O.S. in my opinion, it chokes the life out of any computer it touches. My desktop has a dual core processor and 4 gig of ram and SATA drives. The hard drive runs constantly for no good reason. I started building computers in 1994. I have never seen such a system hog as Vista.

ditto that.. I have a laptop with dual core processor and 4g ram.. and 64 bit vista.. and vista tries it's hardest to make that pc slow..

Walmarts website is selling the same model with some fancy paint for $328.
