My resolve must be strong during this trying time. I swear those damn thin mints. That's all I say. Those DAMN THIN MINTS!!

We walked up down a few blocks and sold 30 boxes before the game :)

Anyhow, I didn't have time to snap a pic yesterday, just too busy. I'll get one on here as soon as possible. Thanks bmaverick, you've been a great help on this and several other forums with getting this turkey working. That KE95 engine though, what a unicorn it is. I checked into the Cubs all the way down to the 5000 series, where they start running gas V twins, and no 2 cylinder diesels in the lot. All 3 cylinders at least like S3Ls etc. Pumpguy, I don't know if you're aware but you've also helped me a lot in the past on several other occasions, and helped me solve some mysteries. Thanks go to you too. Beers on me guys, if I ever get the chance. I am going to pull that pump, and if there's a shim in there, I'll take it out and see how it goes. I'll have some time on my hands this coming up weekend, that sounds like a good time for that.

By the way, one detail I left out, when it’s running, no matter what RPM, I get next to no fuel bubbling out the returns. I mean, just the tinyest little droplet at full nut, and that’s it. Otherwise dry. I didn’t know if that was important or not, but I thought I’d bring it up.

I took the pump off, and there was no shim under there, just a fiber gasket that I, of course, tore the hell out of. In talking with others on other forums, I found a guy who was fighting with a KE70 in much the same way as I am, and he told me his pump had just a gasket, too. Also that you have to scrape the gasket out, and install shims. I really have no other option at this point. Thankfully I was able to recover one piece of the gasket so I can hopefully get a reasonable measurement on where the pump was. My plan is to make shims out of coke cans until I get to that measurement. I'll have to make lot of em. A coke can is about .004" thick. According to another thread I read, one guy indicated that .004 is worth about 1 degree of timing, so I have reasonably high hopes of at least getting this back to where I was before I took the pump off, if not better. I have new sleeves and plungers coming from Oregon Injection, so hopefully between that, and some ability to adjust timing, I'll be in good shape.

Why not buy shims.. it’ll take u a good weeks worth of time to make them..
Aren’t they only a couple of bucks.??

I can’t find any. Oregon Injection said they were engine parts, not injection parts, so they didn’t have any. I made a few other calls to possible sources, but nobody has em. Do you know where I can get em?

I’m one of those guys who hates threads like this that have no resolution or even closing notes, so even if it takes awhile, I shall finish :)

I didn’t check with Shaffer’s, Pitt or Spencer. I’ll do that tomorrow. Thanks!
