Mobil Delvac 1

I buy it for around $10 per gallon. Been using it since 2003. Way better than Rotella in my eyes. Walmart or Rural King is where I get it 90% of the time. I also use Dello 400, and Castrol Diesel oil. Run Rotella Synthetic in my neighbors Dmax I take care of.

Chris

I'm an oil distributor and sell some Mobil products. I buy from an authorized Mobil Distributor, and my cost for Delvac 1300 CJ-4 in drums is about 11 bucks a gallon. No way on this planet do you buy Delvac 1 synthetic in jugs for under 20 bucks. Most retail places it is going to be 25 or more per gallon. A friendly Shell distributor just quoted me yesterday about 58 bucks for a 3 gallon case of jugs of Rotella synthetic, a bit under 20 per gallon. I pay for Delo 400 synthetic in jugs 95 bucks for 4 gallons, about 20 bucks less than a 4 jug case of Delvac 1. Maybe you have not shopped in a few years.

Just a guess, but perhaps Chris is talking about the Mobil Delvac 1300 Super, as that can be had at $10.00 per gallon on sale at various outlets.

I can buy the rotella Syn at Wal-mart for $19/gallon jug. Your friendly distributer is not giveing you as good a deal as you think.

Believe it or not, if you were a Chevron, Shell, Mobil, Exxon, or any other major oil authorized distributor---one who carries the entire line of lubricants and spends 100's of thousands per year doing business with them---that same distributor could probably go to Sam's or wal-Mart and buy the jugs or quarts of motor oil of that company brand for less than he can buy it from the oil compnay when the stuff comes in with a 50,000 pound order and load. I worked once for a Texaco distributor, he complained to texaco that his costs for quarts of Havoline were higher than he could just get it at Wal-Mart. He was told "You place an order for 5 rail road cars of Havoline in quarts, and we will work you up a good price". But I have not seen Delvac 1300 for 10 bucks in quite awhile.

UPDATE!

I called a local Mobil Distributor who put me in touch with the local salesman. Very nice guy, and lives close by. He told me to go to a local tire store he services, and he would get the Delvac 1 for me.

He just called... $200 for a case of (4) gallons! That's $50 per gallon, and doersn't include the governor's cut! I can buy Roterlla T-6 locally for $27.99 a gallon.

I found an online supplier. $135 plus $18 shipping.. No tax...

Expensive, but it will last 3+ oil changes...

It really is hard to believe how fast and high the price of engine oil is climbing. Simply puts things into another perspective and price range. Very simular to the price of Ammunition for firearms?.I am assuming that Motor oil cannot go stale, while still in the original containers or drums?

Yeah I think Chris means Delvac as it is generically known. Big difference between "Delvac" and Delvac 1. Sort of like the difference between Mobil and Mobil 1;)

You guys are really making me happy:thumbsup:

I run into "Schaeffer's is to expensive" all the time. Schaeffer's Supreme 7000 can easily double and triple drain intervals and more, as you have been talking about, for under $18.00/g with qualifying discounts and free s/h. On top of that you get a person trained to handle lubricant related maintenance issues to work with you, state of the art, complimentary oil analysis support and complete technical support for your operation. What kind of support do you get from Mobil, Shell or Chevron? Anybody from those companies ever offer you free oil analysis? Or ever call you to see how you are?

If it performs at least the same, most say better, why are you still spending so much? I visited with 4 clients today. 3 of them told me stories about their wives and children. Do you think any of those big corporations give a crap about saving you money? Praise GOD I found Schaeffer and they give me the opportunity to impact people's lives and business'.
