Ok I found the air filters, thanks. The 'secondary' was completely black. They are both on my list for Monday to go and get. There are three fluid filters I need correct - fuel, oil, and trans. The filter on the bottom (mount on the front of the rear axle is the tranny, right? I can tell it was a John Deere filter, but it is dented in bad, and very rusty. No telling how long it has been since they replace it. Please take a look at Post - 'OK, got my first problem (455)' Thanks

I think your earlier model (mine is a 1997 or so) may take spec a different oil filter, but the ones listed here (all baldwin numbers) will all work. I use Baldwin pretty much exclusively.

Fuel Filter PF937
Air Filter-Outer PA3472
Air Filter-Inner PA3565
Hydraulic Filter BT8499
Oil Filter B1400or B1402

I made a spread sheet with my various machines listed and try to always keep one of each on the shelf or bring in on a regualr stocking order.

JD parts has an excellent online system with drawings etc. You'll need to have 2 gallons of Deer Lo-Vis or Mobilfluid 424? for your service and a gallon of engine oil. Capacity of the hydro escapes me, but 2 gallons should cover it.

Well, I do have pics, but I keep forgeting them at home. Work this time of year is so busy. I have a lot to delegate around and keep up with.
On to the tractor. The starter went out on me the second day I had it. It is now in the shop being rebuilt. The panels and hood will be purchased as soon as I get the money. Hood = $330, Panels = $109, Screen for Panels = $89. I fixed the left side panel and put it back on. The left I may try to fix with fiberglass to make it function. And same with the hood. I purchased - fluids and all the fluid filters and air filters. Those items will be changed this weekend. The owners manuel is $39.99 and 3-4 weeks to deliver. I hate waiting that long for something this exciting. Anyone have one they could make a complete copy of and send it to me, please email me at richardw@gagemaker.com
We can work out a deal $$.

Just looked at E-bay, and found this

455 service manual on CD

Short time left, but don't know if there will be any bids. Just a thought, and much more than the operators manual (which you may still want).

There have been quite a few new 455 hoods on ebay. Might save ya some money?

Yes, I did see some recently. But they went for $275 & $315 I will male this one work for now. And save up for a new one after a little while. Ebay is a good way to save some money.

I took my hood and side panels to a body shop. They will fix the hood for $100 and both side panels for $50. Since my 455 is a "daily driver" I don't need it looking new right now, maybe later.
